Darren Appleton vs Earl Strickland on 4 pocket Diamond table

i dont think anyone crushes earl on this table....top gear shot maker is going to have benefit on this, and Earl may be getting older but he's still got those gears in my opinion.....he showed them not too long ago on that 10ft against SVB...dont ever count out the pearl, especially if its something he's been asking to play on for some time....Earl is no fool nor a slouch.

I saw the table yesterday neat idea, I guess. but why not just spot balls that go in the side on the break and anything else that falls during the game would be a foul? then you'd still have a table you can rent out.

That would be TOTALLY different.

Balls that would go into the side pocket are now going to go to different parts of the table & be available for safes in those areas...

& the whole side pocket area will be available to use for getting position & banking balls off of those areas.

If anyone thinks that Earl is some sort of a Looney Toone because of some of his antics, they are mistaken.

He knows what he's doing & may know more about the variations of how tables play differently that anyone else.

He may know someone in the dessert that has such a table & has been playing on it for years.

He may not win the first one as the pressure will be on him & it is just a novelty for Darren.

But I think he'll show well & may take down some other significant matches on it down the road a bit.

I did not notice. Where is the table located?

it's in Akron Ohio, ...like i said it's neat but in the end..eh I'd rather have a regulation table I can play on during regular business hours

When was the last time Earl was in an action match??

Then all of a sudden a gaff 4 pocket table for 10k+. Sounds like they're trying to push ppv again.

That match was 4-5 years ago, wasn't it? Has he won anything major since then? I know he tied for second in an Accu-stats MIH event, though first place went to Darren.

I think the 4-pocket-table match will be interesting for a few racks and I'd like to try it once. But a race to 75 is a bit over the top for me.

My guess at the result:
Darren 75
Earl 72

It will at least be a novelty & get action, at least for awhile & who knows, it may take off & they may need to get another one.

I for one would love to see all pool tables like that.
No middle pockets.

I think it would certainly change things & perhaps for the better.

Personally, I'd like to see them do away with field goals & extra points in Football. THAT would certainly change things too, like guys giving it their all & getting beat up only to lose because some guy that does not even break a sweat comes in & beats them because he can kick a football reasonably straight from over 50 yards.

This table is just silly. This is just further distancing our sport from the consistency of rules and equipment that it needs to be taken seriously. I'm not interested in this match.

Darren plays position too well, this isn't gonna faze him in the least. It might even make him the favorite.....

This is just silly and falls into the "Be careful what you wish for" category.

Darren will win this easily and Earl will totally go on tilt.

Perhaps you would rather have a Straight Pool World Championship decided on a coin table with an over sized heavy weight cue ball.

No offense intended.

I hear you...

but considering the state of where the game is right now, I think this can only help...

IF it were on television & more than just die hard players paying for the stream to see it.

Best 2 Ya,
Rick

Earl played phenomenal in that one set at the MIH tournament so maybe he'll surprise, but i don't like his chances one bit.

This is what I'm saying. Earl is a great shotmaker, but Darren has a better cue ball. In the long race Darren's superior cue ball will matter more than Earl's shotmaking. Darren isn't a slouch when it comes to shotmaking either. Daz gets up by 10 and Earl starts imploding.
