Attention players that like HARD playing tips... question

In no particular order:
Kamui Black Medium
G2 Hard
Instroke Hard
Talisman Pro Hard

The Instroke and Talisman Pro appear to be identical other than the finish applied to the Talisman. Both are excellent. IMO, G2 Hard does not start out as a true hard tip, but gets there with play. I like it better the more I use it. A great tip. I don’t understand negative responses about Kamui (glazing, etc.). I like mine a lot. Before play I rough up the surface a bit, but I do that for every tip. I rechalk before each shot. None of these tips have mushroomed. For me, the Kamui Hard is too hard. Recent experience with the Talisman WB Hard was not as positive as an earlier sample, which is still excellent and my favorite commercial tip.

Try one of ours. They play awesome, and are a fraction of the price, as compared to others. Here are two pics of two recent installs. (Pics Provided by Marty J out of Plano, TX). Thanks for checking us out.

Aside from the tip, what exactly am I looking at? Thanks.

I've been a layered tip guy for years, but given all the hype I just ordered 4 Ki-Tech's (2x MH and 2x H) to try out.

Making a hard tip is easy.. Any layered tip manufacturer out there can make one or the guys buying imports can have them made... "You know who you are..."

What they do is just change the pressure on the press... Press the crap out of crap and you get hard crap.... They under press crap and you get soft crap that turns to hard crap in a month and for a regular press you get possibly medium crap that turns to hard crap in under a month....

Our hard is actually pressed the same as our other grades.... We don't over press or under press to make our tips... Would be soooooooooooooooooooo much easier if we did and our tips would wear out faster!!

I like our Ki-Tech Hard but I am biased.. I like all of our grades as a player because changing tips more than once every 3 months is nuts... unless you are the installer...

hmm

I'm playing UltraSkin Hards at the moment. It's the only layered tip I like. I literally chopped off every other layered tip within a day or two. The UltraSkins are really nice and at this point, I may actually prefer them over Triangles.

And they're cheap. I don't know what the hell I was thinking ever spending $20+ on a stupid cue tip, most of which play like crap IMHO. Never again.

The hardest tip I play with is a Kamui Black Medium. I will try some other hard tips some day when my supply of Kamui tips is gone. Maybe a Ki Tech or G2.

What's the difference (same hardness) Kamui Black vs Kamui Brown, other than a couple dollars in prices?
Thanks

^ I have been thtough 20+ Kamui blacks and originals so I'll try to clarify my experience with them.

Kamui Black medium feels very "snappy" through its lifetime. It plays fairly nice but glazes over like hell. Needs to be scuffed a lot. Also to my personal taste the biggest problem with Kamui blacks is that the amount spin is harder to control than with the Original series. They arent the most consistent tip out there play wise, unfortunately as they are one the nicest tips to install. Burnish amazingly well and cuts like a dream on a lathe.

Originals are much better in my opinion. They hold up really well in use, dont glaze nearly as much as the blacks do and they are very nice to play with. The feel is more "natural" than its counterpart and atleast for me they play consistently regardless of shot speed. Tip to tip consistency is good too. Not much bad to say about these, a very good tip. Softer hardnesses may need to trimmed once after playing in period, thats about it.

E: And to the OP: I'd personally go with Kamui Clear Original Hard tip. It is an outstanding hard tip in my opinion, I like everything about it. Super pros are good too, especially considering the price of them.

I use Ultraskin Mediums and I am thinking of trying the HH version as well. Very good quality leather. Not wild about the layered thing, but I have yet to find another tip that grips the ball like Ultraskins.

Not sure how the mediums are, but one thing about the hard that I found (and Tom helped me with). After the install, take off the top layer. There's something weird about the top layer. It glazes quickly and plays very poorly. As soon as that layer is gone, it doesn't seem to glaze anymore and it plays 10 times better.

Personally, I think you'll find the Hard to be hard enough. I like a hard tip, and it's about as hard as I'd like to go. Any harder and I think it will start feeling/acting like a break tip.

I will create a coupon code to track you guys but I will offer a 100% money back guarantee on the Ki-Tech hard as long as you are already a hard tip user... Yeah I know... no way to verify that so please police yourself.....

Single Ki-Tech in the store is $15.... AZHARD will get you $5 bucks off and If you send me a picture of the tip cutoff if you didn't like it I will refund you your $10 bucks.....

We do money back guarantees on our Hammerhead so I will offer the same on the Ki-Tech hard.... "Better cueing thru modern chemistry"

All that Kamui makes are hard tips... Just up to you and what you purchased originally as to when they get there..... If you bought the hard you bought the right tip and didn't have to wait around for a month or 2..... They all get there... They are layered
