if they dont want to be looked at in the pool hall they will make sure not to wear clothes that reveal every curve in their figure
if it doesnt bother them and they wear revealing clothing, who cares
I am not really responding directly to you (or at least not only to you), and this is not an attack. But a few comments:
1. Men will look at attractive women no matter what they wear. They may look a little more if the clothing is revealing, but they will look even if she's wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Women will also look at attractive men.
2. I look. But I try very hard not to stare in a way that makes women uncomfortable. I may not always succeed, but I try. I absolutely do not make comments that make them uncomfortable.
3. If we want the sport to grow, and for that matter if we want to be gentlemen (to use a old term), we owe it ourselves and women to try to make them feel comfortable in a pool hall, not uncomfortable. We should not treat the pool hall a "male domain" where women who enter assume the risk of being harassed. Anyone who has seen those viral videos of women walking down the street being catcalled should see immediately how it would make a woman feel and verbal comments are not always necessary (and those videos also show that men who want to harass women will do so no matter what the women are wearing). I refuse to believe that any man doesn't know the difference.
4. Making women feel comfortable (or not uncomfortable) also includes things like simply being respectful in other ways - not being condescending and treating her like a newbie and offering tips in a condescending way. We have all seen it, and can easily contrast it with someone being genuinely friendly and helpful.
5. Women read this forum. Probably not enough of them, but they do. But when we don't see them comment we tend to forget about them. Remember that they are reading and let's try not to say things we wouldn't say with women we like and respect listening.
Regards,
Gideon
