None of the above. I started playing when I was 8 on a little table that was placed on top of our kitchen table. Then I earned enough flipping quarters and working part time job so I could buy my own table at 13, 1963.
The only reason I can think of is I must be crazy. Why else would anyone play a game that's is unfair and can never be mastered.

For me it is a form of relaxation, almost meditation. During that time, all the other stresses in my life, disappear.

Pool Fu

For me it is a form of relaxation, almost meditation. During that time, all the other stresses in my life, disappear.

It's the attainment of the zone, when you get to the point where you can hit it. Its a place you can go where you feel at one with yourself.

Well said.

I love every aspect of the game. It offers me a getaway from the stress of every day life, allows me to focus on improving on it and is a great way to socialize too. I enjoy fiddling around with different equipment too and there is nothing better to do that than pool and darts

For me it's a lifestyle and a passion. I lead a very simple life. Home, work, gym or poolroom. That's it. Monotonous but it works for me.

I agree, but...

For me it is a form of relaxation, almost meditation. During that time, all the other stresses in my life, disappear.

It really depends on what you want from pool. It can be relaxing to some to just release tension by hitting balls. To get that natural high of playing perfect. But, when you don't play well and you strive to get there, it can be depressing and stressful. This is where the solid fundamentals help. For me, it is a journey of self gratification of getting into the zone where nothing matters at that time except to beat a particular table or opponent, or better yet, seeing the successful results in others who have accepted my help to improve their pool skills.

For me it's the sex. I get screwed every time I play.

And for me it's like gardening. I get Hosed repeatedly.
Pool's a fascinating game unlike anything else. Endless hours of fun. It's a lifetime of fun.
Lately it's the cat and mouse in a OnePocket game ....

Addicted

I must be addicted to pool. I've threatened to quit the game a thousand times because I wasn't having fun, couldn't play perfectly, didn't like the people I was playing with and can't seem to make any money playing pool but I'm still playing.

What the guy above me said..... ONE POCKET much?

Hello..... My Name is Lesh

I'm an addict.

maybe you....but like my new helper who doesn't play pool and grew up in my old neighborhood....who knows me, sees me quite often...but doesn't play pool and has never seen me be around or talk much about it.

he got to come up to school and help me with table....and a big boy too 18, mechanical engineering student college soph...6'3 280lbs.....ma claut pulla (in cajun lol , cloth puller)

well on the way back we visited my good friend and fellow player who has a few tables....

so hes gotten like 24hrs around me in a pool setting...the whole day i had been speaking to him....tables, cues, game theory.....had gotten like 5 hrs of lessons the night before....brand new player too......

smart, quiet, was a pitcher so knows his body and such......listens....decently reserved and a thinker.....

i get to talking about some one hole at my boys place.......he all of a sudden gets real comfortable and tells my friend (everyones cool so he opened up)

"boy keeb can open up huh? get him wide open like a honda 2 stroke if he cares about it.....barely let me touch anything today because i'm just learning and i know he's tired but you said one pocket and VROOM VROOM there he goes"

one holes for the iron chefs of pool...the game theory is what i find most facinating...it has as much or even more than say a game like football.

just the other day some nit......says oh "onnnneee pocket is soooo slow" (gross) and i said yea well i know you have played scotch doubles league events and i dont hear you cry nearly as bad about that....you just dont know how to move.....so you dont appreciate it. then my other firend says something about a tripples event that they were playing in.....

i said "what?!? " a tripples event....scotch? 8 ball?

yes.....

wow.....so one pockets slow....but a 3some scotch event.......:eek::confused::sorry::eek::eek::eek::confused::wink::sorry:

but he probably hasmore money invested in chains than in brains i assume...

one thing i find hilarious that the kid picked out stone cold....my helper....he said you talk alot in metaphors, like while i was showing him stuff. I said yea i notice that too...must be from being online for 10 years on az.....he said no no its easy to understand, it just sounds funny some of the things you say, but it works i get it....i told him i didn't think he was picking, to think how in the heck do you describe something so someone understands the words....and he had just had some text message battle with his little girlfriend earlier, because he didn't get the connotation lol...and i took off like a rocket about Short rail/long rail and such being the accepted terms for conversation for understanding shots when away from the table.
