Format aside
Putting the format aside for a moment.....
I was there at SBE, seen the Morra/SVB final in 10 ball. ......
BOTH shot very well. SVB's break was pocketing 2 balls avg.
Here was the difference, problem in the match.....
SVB was NOT getting position after the break. This led to a safety contest which would last 5 innings or so each time. Morra was hitting EVERY safety , and getting back safe on SVB as well. That put Morra up 3-2 . SVB had a chance and missed. You could see SVB's frustration. Morra runs out.
Morra leaves SVB next time at table with a 1/2 table 90 degree shot for a sure scratch and no position on the next ball. SVB scratches and returns to his seat clearly frustrated. That was about 10 racks into the match.
From then on,.... it was Morra's match, he ran out like water.
It was Morra's day (that day) :thumbup:
I got bored watching and started paying more attention to the women's final on the other side.

I don't know or have a problem with John, my real issue was the format.
He beat SVB and can't argue much with that.

An APA 5 can have an opinion, without it be "entitled". Just because a person can't play to the level of another doesn't mean that person can't recognize good play when they see it.

Nope. Not enough to fill a vest, not that I'd wear one. (Actually, maybe I do, not sure where they are. Believe it or not, most of the APA players I know don't really give a damn about the patches, and never wear them on anything.)

I try and avoid posting here (or Facebook, or anywhere else) once that has begun. Not much good will come of it, save for providing some entertainment value for my friends, usually at my own expense (and deservedly so).

I agree that if a player is really crappy they usually don't know much, but for the most when it comes to sports involving physical skill, such as pool, knowledge is one of the least important factors that determines who is better between two players. Physical skill is far more important.
Any coach in almost anything you can think of is the perfect example. Are they as capable as the person/people they coach? Almost never. Usually not even remotely close either. Why? Because they lack the physical ability. But do they know more than the people they are coaching. Almost always, and usually a whole bunch more, not just a little bit more.
At a certain point how much you know has little to do with how good you are. Your physical skills and abilities are what makes the big difference. The argument or insinuation that the better player necessarily knows more simply because they play better is an extremely silly one. Like is said, just think of any coach in the sport of your choice for a perfect example to see how silly that argument or insinuation is.

I'm no kid. And that has a lot to do with why "housewives shudder", your cute way of disparaging me as a lowly league player. I started playing this game as I neared 50. You dont become a world beater when you start that late in life. Tho with age comes wisdom, and maturity, and the ability to make objective observations about a game that I'm not very good at. And to have discussions on an internet forum like a grownup.
I have fun playing this great game. I dont have to gamble doing so. I realize I'm not very good, in the big picture, and I'm fine with that. I'll try and improve, but my world wont end if I cant get worked up when some hotshot tries to make me feel bad cuz I can't beat him, even with the orange crush.
Woof away, you obviously enjoy it. I wonder if you enjoy playing pool, or if the gambling and the woofing are what does it for you. Look down your nose at league players, but I bet we're happier than you are. Cuz you seem pretty miserable.
