It's pretty much common knowledge on this board that spa players are nothing but bangers and sand baggers...right ?

Well I guess I need to steer a few of my new team mates towards this board so you guys can give them the skinny on how apa players are supposed to be.

I have a new player that just moved here from another area who is a 6. He told me Las week that he is gonna be a 9 before the year is over...or something like that. I go ...huh ?

Now he is a nice guy and a decent shooter but he is between a weak to an average 6..heck I beat players who he has lost to so far and I am only a 5..its kinda nice that he has aspirations of reaching the highest level but he has a loooong way to go.

I had a 5 join from another area 2 sessions ago. He keeps talking about he oughta be a 6. The 1st match he played cod me I was thinking....damn he oughta be a 4. Well it was not too long before he became a 4 and just recently was raised back to a 5 and now talking about he oughta be a 6. I gotta news flash for him. He needs to improve upon cue ball control and learn what a safety is. His safety % is 0.36.

I just picked up a new player that has never played league. 1st 9 ball match he loses to another 4 but I saw signs of a decent player so I asked him to join my Sunday night double jeopardy team also. Since then he demolished another 4 in 9 ball 20 -0 and beat a other 4 in 8 ball 3-0.in 6 innings.

Damn....just damn. What am I gonna do with these guys. ?

I dont get it? Are you confused on why a player thinks he is better then the reality of his game?

No, I believe he is pointing out how they want to be and/or believe they are better then they're ranked. And how that goes against the assumption that APA players sandbag

Sounds like the common conflict of wanting to become a better pool player vs doing what is best for the team.

I think when someone joins a new team from another area, they have to puff themselves up to make sure you understand that they are not a newbie. In their old world, they may have been the bull o' the woods, so they want you to respect them. Seem plausible?

Cool story bro.

I spent my "Prime" playing in a pool hall against better players, mostly for cash or tourney play. After a long layoff (almost 20 years), I joined three teams... APA, TAP, UPA. I for one find it extremely hard to adjust to this style of playing/team thought process. Not knocking league play at all, but it is different nonetheless. Between who are sandbagging, players who want to be a higher handicap, who wants to be lower. Some people on the teams don't want you to play too good!!! .Too much drama imho. I miss the days of locking up with someone, sometimes up to 24 hours straight, and playing your ass off. Maybe a bit off topic, point being there is definitely an adjustment.

If nobody's willing to sandbag you might as well hang it up.
God knows you can't win in the APA with a team that's
accurately rated. It's not natural
I really don't know what the hell is wrong with you guys

I can't imagine playing in a spa, the humidity would be way too much even with a glove.

You and me, both.
And, what about all those young female masoos...massooz...you know, back rubbers. What about them. Running around all half naked, and shit. A guy could never concentrate enough to make a shot.
