Jump Shots, do you like them or not?

Just replace the phrase "jump shots" with "safeties".

LOL, those people just don't like the added challenge and are the same people that can't adjust to an opponent so they proceed to make every ball they can just opening the table for a run out by the opponent. Not a smart offensive or defensive game.

I think the house should outlaw jump cues if they want to keep the cloth in good condition.

Some just outlaw jumping period regardless of cue and some leagues don't allow it or make it even more difficult (thus discouraging it) by requiring you to use a regular playing stick that is not specialized for jumps (APA).

jump shots

I don't like jump shots just my opinion but ask Earl see what he has to say.

I like jump shots, but only if you are going to use a full-sized cue to do it. Masse shots too.... no masse cues allowed. Sorry to those of you that purchased a jump or (even more foolishly) a Masse cue, no offense.

Further more, I do not entirely think its kosher for people to jump that often. i think its a rare case where one simply MUST jump a ball. Sure, its impressive if its done correctly and it sure does seem like a massive amount of time needed to master a skill that you will rarely ever need to use. So people that invest so much time in learning to jump tend to jump more than they need to... Please stop the violence. End the cycle of hatred for cloth.... cloth is people too... cloth lives matter.

We shall over-cut.

Not a fan of jumping or the testicularly-driven industry built up around this needless practice.

Lesh

cloth lives do matter....so long as they are blue are green

Yes, I like the jump and I think jump cues should be allowed, always. I paid $35 for my J&J jump and it works very well. A regular playing cue can be used in some situations but not most. I have jumped 1/4 ball and 1/2 ball with my player easily and can jump full ball with no control but playing cues aren't made for that shot. That's why they made the jump cue. It's a specific tool for a specific shot.

Jump shots are ok, so long as it's being done with your playing cue. Then it's a truely skillful shot. I regret the requirement to have a jump cue, but I must, because otherwise I'd be spotting everybody else. I do jump certain shots with my playing cue, mainly because I can, but also because of the increase in cueball control, especially on longer jumps. IMO it should be FORBIDDEN to use a jump cue, especially in straight pool and one pocket, but also in other games.

Bank shot? What are you, some kind of girly man?

I think they should do away with bank shots. Play the game like a Man

Boy, I say Boy, put down that jump cue. AAhnold would never use one. It is the epitome of girly, girly. A Real man knows his kicking angles and banks not some girly, squirrely jump over the obstacle shot.

No not an A player, I would say B+ at most. I do not B&R consistently enough and still make the occasional errors. I do not know my %, Maybe a B&R every 7 racks. High run is 5 racks.

And that's the point of playing kicks first, to make your opponent think he has an upper hand. lol,

Lol. Nice strategy:rolleyes: yeah, you'd really get me with that, thank god you're not closer cause you probably would have taken all my money by now.
You must play some really bad players if you think leaving you a few kicks will "trick" me into leaving you jump shots for the rest of your life.
Goodluck with that Jedi mind trick

Jump with full cue only, jump cues are a joke. I always pushed out to a jump shot, and 9 times out of 10 my opponent would give it back.
Even after making the shot most of the time they would still give it back, cause they couldnt make it or even hit it with a full cue.

I spent probably 100's of hrs practicing full cue jumps( when nobody was around) and it paid off alot more than you would think.

After years off and those pitiful jump cues, I havent bothered to try and get back to that level of jumping - they just pull out that joke of a jump cue and jump over the ball with no chance of making it.

Full cues are 100% made for jumping balls, you just dont know how.

I would imagine you cannot hit a ball 7 feet away and draw the cueball back to the rail 8 or 9 feet, and yet playing cues are made for that too.

I would imagine that what you're saying I can't do is complete crap based on the fact that you've never seen me play. I can draw very well on a long stroke shot, done it many times. You keep jumping with your full cue and impressing the crowds and I'll keep using my jump cue to get out when I have to. We'll both be happier this way.

Since I am an old timer, I would vote NO, even though me a my Air Predator have no problem.

When it is legal, a jump shot is a shot. A player needs to learn to make them. I am generally comfortable with jump shots, minor masses, and kicks using up to 3 rails. These shots are all as important to learn as it is to learn great safeties.

I like jump shots, though I learned to jump with a full cue a long time ago. I still jump some shots with a full cue, sometimes use a jump cue.

I don't mind playing tournaments where jump cues are not allowed, as I like to kick as well. Really doesn't matter to me, only issue is if I know my opponent is good at jumping it changes how I play safes.

I don't mind them but if the jump cue is outlawed I wouldn't lose any sleep.
I LOVE the beauty of an Efren 4 rail kick over any jump shot!
