Do many of you guys computer not show the sarcasm at the end of his post? Many taking this serious. Very funny OP, whether it's lost on most or not.
Never underestimate someone's ignorance.

Yes, that sucks that your pool hall closed on you.
But let's look at this logically, beyond your micro-environment.
There's nothing wrong with pool.
It's growing--around the world.
Great competition around the world.
Millions of players now playing.
If a pool room closes in the U.S., that makes total sense.
Industries shift, consumers change, time moves on.
As I say, I'm sorry you lost your pool room.
I say sell your cue and hang up your playing days and just enjoy from the sidelines.
There's a lot of pool being played.
Give it time--pool WILL be in the Olympics!
In twenty-years time, you will see a whole new crop of players.
The game will look quite different from how it looks now.
I have a feeling it will be exciting!
Thats the exact reason poolhalls are closing. People only want things for free. If they cant make money then they clsoe. pretty simple
There used to be a pool hall that I went to occasionally. They offered free pool from 11-1 with free soft drinks. I would go about 11:15 and leave at 1:45. I usually ordered a coffee to give the girl working there something to do. She would usually only fill up my cup once or twice, I'm used to getting better service but I am a nice guy so I didn't complain to the manager.
Well this pool hall up and closes on me, now what I am supposed to do? I have been calling around and nowhere else offers free pool and rinks. Maybe I will take my graphite cue to the pawn shop and try to get something out of it so I didn't waste too much money on this sport....
How can pool grow if the pool halls are closing on us?
(sarcasm)[/QUOTE
Are you serious?
I used to own a pool hall and all the cheap people (like you, I`m sorry to say) didn`t do anything for business. I used to find that the better the player the more he expected for free.

My Apologies to the OP. I missed the "sarcasm"
My local pool hall offers free nacho bar with paid table rental everyday 3pm-5pm, it's not much but it gets us through after lunch and into the dinner menu on our long sessions. But the group of guys I shoot with all support the kitchen and waitstaff!!!!!!!! After all pool is a VERY cheap hobby.
Compared to golf, you ain't kiddin' Brother. I have yet to lose three $4.00 cue balls in a pond on the same hole!![]()
Scary how many people didn't make it to the bottom of my post to see I was kidding.
Here is the most basic problem with pool today:
The NIT POOL PLAYERS
that won't pay to help keep their room open
I offered free pool on Sunday's from open to close. This was on RKC worked Diamond bar boxes that are kept meticulously clean, Aramith Tournament balls, Delta Elite racks. All I got were water drinkers playing their I Phones for music, never tipping their Waitress and it's the only day I'd see them.
To make a spot of money on Sunday's, we changed it to free pool all day w/a minimum $5 purchase. I was dubbed The AntiChrist and those people disappeared. No good deed goes unpunished. Brian.
Yes because of our past we were serving a demographic that is a bad deal for pool but you cant seem to get anyone motivated to going after a better one.

Golf courses have green fees just to get on the course.
Strip clubs have door fees just to see the skanks
Pool could have no nit fees at the door
just to get in, then of course table time fees if you
want to play. Guaranteed it will chase the nits outside
and make the action better inside as only people with
some money will be in the room.
Of course the room would have to be of enough caliber
that people would want to be in it...there is where much
of the problem exists as well.
