Whats your pool dream?

I think we all have flashes of wanting to be a great player or something of that nature, so what's your pool fantasy? Even the one you don't tell people about.

They also change in time, so let the dogs out!

My pool dream. Stop twisting my wrist. Stop blowing a simply runout. Get my OnePocket chit together. I have small goals and dreams . Just want to play a respectable game. Nothing more.

Without a doubt....CUEMAKING

To own a pool hall.

Twenty-something tables, including bar boxes and Diamonds. Full kitchen, drinks, a bar, a minimal dining area.

A pro shop that does everything from tips to cue building.

I'd want to set up a section where my league players are somewhat segregated from the serious players. Ideally, a 'sunk in' section where bystanders can observe the game from an elevated position. In that section I'd want cameras over the table, bird's eye view, with TVs in that section, so the league players can watch what's happening without needing to crowd around the tables. And plenty of seating for the league players so they're not on top of each other.

I'd also have a couple of bird's eye cameras on the big tables for streaming events. The streams are good now, but to be able to see the entire table from up high would make streams more enjoyable to watch.

having the land/funds to build a private room

I have always and will always wish that pool can grow and get the respect it deserves, I would like it to become recognized as a skilled sport. I would also like for players to be honest and there not be any shadiness or suspicion of shadiness.
I'll work on my own problems and if it's to be it will be, my concern is the big picture, let pool get back to the glory of the black and white days where those of us who can't do it can live vicariously through others like they do is other sports. Let the guys make a good living for the work that they put in.

My current fantasy is a lot like yours. I get to thinking Id like to find a pile of money and take a huge old house with some big rooms or basement and put some tables in. Have a place where you could have big matches, streaming and bed and breakfast sort of right in one place. A place where different bodies of pool could meet and have conferences. A place where Pool Schools could be held. That's my current fantasy. I love to have a bunch of pool without the Pool Hall or the Pool Hall problems if that makes sense.

I always wanted to win a million dollars.

Back in the day----I always wanted to win a Cadillac.

And now---to make five eightballs on the break in a row during TAP League play.

:woot:

I like that, especially the bolded part.

I could envision something like this (although probably not as extravagant):

Something like a two story hotel, and in the middle is the pool hall/restaurant.

Sure, anyone can rent a room, but I would advertise my place as THE place to be for major tournaments. We've got a few tourneys around here (upstate NY) that guys come from all over. The current owner of one pool hall has negotiated a room rate with a hotel about two miles away. But to be able to walk out your door and be in the action ?

Ahh... it's nice to dream, though...

I have two.

Having my own 9' Diamond table in a comfortable room with a tv, couch, etc. I'd basically live in that room.

Running 100+ in straight pool.

Have that kitchen be a smokehouse, serving brisket, ribs, smoked meat sandwiches. Then add in a microbrewery and bam!

Go into retirement, run a neighborhood pool room that's family friendly and partners with the schools and community centers for junior programs. No smoking, no alcoholic drinks. Membership based (think gyms), quality 9-ft. tables. A room that's sectioned off as a lounge with a couple of big TVs looping some YouTube matches or broadcast live streams and a game console with Virtual Pool for folks who just want to hang. At each table will be a screen that players can customize with short messages or used to display scores for all to see. Or watch TV. If the table is unoccupied it will display advertisement. Reliable WiFi for members.

Still coming up with more ideas... but one can dream, right?

...that the world 9-ball will be held once again here in the Philippines.

For there to be a legitimate pro tour.

For there to be a light at the end of the tunnel for those who have dedicated their lives to the game, and have excelled. And for there to be a way for those of us who also support it, to find a way for sustenance.

For there to be an fervent audience for this glorious game, which has seduced us into a lifetime membership with it against many of our more rational judgments.

That was one of my dreams

Klone,
I like this dream a lot. I've had this one. I saw a place wide enough for tables to be laid out side by side to the back of the room. The attendant sits in the back. There are posters on the walls for the local community college, the armed forces and local education programs. There is a desk or an area for kids to do their homework, pens and paper and stuff the kids need, and wifi.

I also saw this place as being ran by retired people only. No one allowed to work there that had to have the income so bad that they would be willing to do anythig crazy. A perpetual coffee pot, a cheapy cue lathe to do tip work and clean a shaft.A TV for the attendant and a radio kept very low. A refrigerator and if you know the guy he will make you a sandwich for a couple of bucks. You can get chips, soda etc. A place where if you dont act right, you are asked to come back when youre ready to and if theres a problem, the guy just closes up for the rest of the day.

I see this maybe even as a place funded by grants for at risk kids and a string of them opening up.

Nice Pool dream! no doubt.
