Want to improve your pool game next weekend?

I DO NOT have a pause on final backswing - just watched a video to make sure. It just doesn't feel natural

All this over the definition over the word pause? I remember when pool used to be fun...

Yeah, reminds me of the debates about the definition of feel, objective, subjective.

Merriam Webster Dictionary

general semantics

a : the meaning or relationship of meanings of a sign or set of signs; especially : connotative meaning
b : the language used (as in advertising or political propaganda) to achieve a desired effect on an audience especially through the use of words with novel or dual meanings

Too scientific.
Can we go back to trashing the pool school's price?
Against forum rules and bad etiquette. However Azb...no holds barred. It has become a free style cage match.

Years ago (early 90's)there were pool school sessions or lessons at SBE in KOP. It ran about $7-$800 a day. Let's discuss the fees. How much is anything worth. A restaurant, movie, car repairs...whatever.
Do we pay for quality or look for a bargain. The instructors...it's their livelihood or supplement, Maybe pay them minimum wage? Most do it for fun or to share their knowledge. Let's talk about it...How much is a personalized lesson worth. Lessons from instructors or top notch A players.
I do not golf, bowl, play tennisl...How much are lessons from Pros?

Can we start a different thread? I feel like we're completely disrespecting Tom Simpson, his schools, and his legacy.

Freddie<~~~ RIP Tom

Funny you should use those examples because the converse would be to say that a flying saucer crashed at Roswell and we took "the greys" to Wright-Patterson AFB.

About as real as as "the pause," lmao.

I mean no disrespect. Mark understands I support his school. I hope he succeeds and continues Tom's work.
It is absolutely poor taste and uncalled for....for anyone to dispute, criticize fees/prices or a service or for sale thread but here we are. The people that really want to take lessons will take them. The others will complain. I want a Tesla..should I go onto a Tesla forum and complain about the price. Cornerman ...I appreciate your concern.....Let's "pause" and support the OP. He needs exposure...Let's get him started ...the reviews from his school will take over....keeping Tom's legacy ongoing. What do people think a lesson is worth. A hundred thank you's are not worth $10.

I apologize for unintentionally disrespecting someone that has passed away. My main gripe was with the pricing, not the instructors or anyone else involved in the pool school. Again, sorry for offending anyone.

How are we disrespecting Tom.The thread has to do Mark's school. It has been totally disrespected by dispute Hijacking. If I was a friend or relative of Tom's I'd feel good about seeing this school advertised and hopefully prevail.
Maybe this should be continued in another thread, as Freddie has suggested, but since this thread has been on this topic so long and involves so many people already, I thought the following resources might be of interest here:

What is SPF?

What is a "pause"

Why should one "pause"

Enjoy,
Dave
Most people don't read...or don't believe what they read.

You are disrespecting/offending forum rules and a vendors offer to solicit. Has nothing to with Tom.
However...You have every right to complain,criticize,question...whatever.
Going back to fee's. I will use Scott Lee as an example (I hope he does not mind). The fees for what he charges are more than reasonable or let's say fair. He drives to your house from Florida. His car, fuel, insurance, expenses cost plenty. At one point the car has to be replaced. I have a OnePocket instructor in Florida. ( he should charge more but who's complaining). I think MFinklesteins price is in bounds if the quality is there. We'll see how the reviews go. I have paid from $20-$75 an hour. The $20 lessons were worth .02.

I'm sorry that some feel the subject is insensitive being posted here. I do not see any association. I respect everyone here and gone. I have plenty of loss and know the value and sensitivity of it. Let's not turn this thread into something else. If I was a friend of Tom's I would enjoy seeing his project continue.
