So, after playing on what what might be the fastest and springiest table on earth with a pretty bad house cue and not getting the cue ball to do what I needed, I got to wondering if anyone has ever successfully used or seen a 5 rail break to the normal/ideal position or even 5 rails into the stack in order to combat an out of control table.

I've played once or twice.

I was curious about solutions to a problem.

Puff, puff pass lol Just when I thought I've seen everything - then something new. I gotta see this one!

I'm not kidding when I say this table was so fast and bouncy that I would only maybe have to hit the ball harder than a normal break to send it 5 rails with running english.

one pocket

That's absurd. What you need to do is place the cueball on the headstring, aim towards the head rail at 40% elevation, shoot firm speed, and jump the cue ball off the head rail and back on TOP of the stack, splitting the two balls in the back row nearest your corner. When executed right this will pocket the corner ball, and the cueball will come skipping back towards your side rail, then back towards the middle of the table for shape on some of the other balls that dribble out of the stack. It works especially well for big money...

I never said anything about money or big money. I could have just switched tables.

Where's the danger if you can get a good feel for the track back to the third diamond, especially if you hit the corner ball, like a modified straight pool break?

I'm not advocating or promoting it. Just curious if anyone has tried or seen it.

this is the type of thinking that one pocket creates.
play 10 ball.
its easy as long as you can count to 10.
9 ball may be a little easier.

Hey Measureman! I see your posts often, just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten who you are. We've played a bit in MN, Demetrius here.

Anyway, my general rule of thumb is that if you don't see pros doing it, there's a reason. I'm not saying it's absolutely impossible to invent a new technique, but the odds are substantially higher that it's hippie talk.

I think you have me confused with someone else.
I have never been to MN.
Assuming MN is Minnesota .

So, how do you break when it's literally impossible to keep the cueball above the side pocket with a traditional break?

Keep in mind that anything beyond a 1/4 tip of inside is miscuing or squirting into or above the second ball and scratching or letting the corner ball out.

Kick 1 rail?

Kick 1 rail?

Why would you want the cueball above the side pocket?
