Shaun Wilkie crying . .....

Just because someone is LEGALLY prescribed something, doesn't mean it's not going to be listed as an illegal drug for competition in places where they DO test.
He is 100% correct.
It's like doping in any other sport. The only way to compete with dopers is to dope along with them.

The problem is, if they implemented drug testing for pool players, 95% of the players would get banned, and the level of pool would go down the drain.

:D

I love Wilkie but he's not 100 pct correct and the line would be real long if he got a backer for big money in any game he wants to play in fact there's dozens who could spot him

The public would surely pretend to be shocked at the number of mediocrities who are sent home to mommy and daddy minus a diploma if colleges had the integrity to test for the abuse of Adderal and other like medications.

Yep
Mommy and daddy bring them to the doctor at 15 saying he's got am attention deficit disorder....and walk out with it.

He sounds so salty.

SVB has been the best in America for years, beating crackheads and junkies, and he doesn't smoke or drink.

What a cheap excuse.

I'm shocked Shaun went down this road. I know for a fact that some world champions have never played on any substance, including alcohol. And.....they don't gamble either. My point is, if there's guys like Thorsten who can play pretty sporty, clean as a whistle, Shaun needs to believe he can too. Shaun is a good, decent man. I suppose he's just frustrated.

But Johnny I thought you only played on 7' tables

I had my room with all 9' tables. I stared playing on 10'. I never said I just played on 7' tables. I have said I mostly gambled on 7' tables the last 25-30 years. Now F off and go fling your $hit somewhere else. Johnnyt

Wilkie has a point, but there is a time and place. It shouldn't be used as an excuse. Some people want pool to be more professional and to be held in higher regard than it is by the general populace. It this were to ever happen, mandatory drug-testing is one of the many steps in the right direction. I used to snort ADD drugs all the time in high school and my early college years. So much that it seemed like my snot was bright orange or blue more often than not. These drugs absolutely provide a competitive edge. In other sports, lengthy suspensions are handed down. Richard Sherman claimed a few years back that about half of the NFL was on Adderall (though he is probably wrongly grouping both amphetamine salts and methylphenidate under that name). For sports that require speedy movements, these drugs can provide an even greater edge. For sports less reliant on speedy movements, the competitive edge should still remain unquestioned. These stimulants provide enhanced focus and energy.

He seems to think that " drugs" relieve pressure, allowing drug users to beat him.

Hmm.
I doubt it.

From Facebook:

" Maybe someday I'll have a backer and want to gamble?? I'm at an unfair advantage since I'm completely SOBER and most others aren't.. If people had to deal with REAL PRESSURE instead of allowing drugs to cloud their brain then many top players wouldn't be at the top! I would play anybody ( take what you make ) 8 ball on a 9 footer.. Would need a backer first? And DRUG TESTS during the match every 2 hours!! #GetSomeKnowledge #PlaySober #RespectTheGame #PossibleSponsorsDontWantAddicts"

He can't be serious??? I can't believe he would put it out like that...thought he was better than that.

I play a guy in dallas twice about 17 years ago. So did gabe owens and others...I believe he is or was a drug dealer if you from dallas then you should know who I'm talking about.I won't put his name out....should I? LOL

Him and his girl were sniffing coke the whole time we were playing and I careless...shit I wanted him to keep sniffing that stuff as long as he keep paying up.

THERE IS NO EXCUSE WHEN YOU WIN OR LOSE....JUST KEEP PRACTICING AND GET BETTER SHAWN WILKIE.

Sad, but true. Good point.

Screw the weed, Crown Royal is where it's at.

I grew up and worked in a pool hall as a kid and wasn't even supposed to be in the place. I was about 12 or 13, when I started, and the legal age was to be 21 to even be in the place, without your parent.

During that era, I saw all kinds of people doing all kinds of stuff to supposedly enhance their game. Some people shot lights out and others lights burned out. One of the best "mixture" players in the world a couple years during the time I worked there happened to be from St. Louis. They named a pool award after him. When he got "right", he didn't miss.

The owner of the pool hall I worked in used to tell me, "I'm going to get a little AIMING OIL" when he got in a close money game with somebody. He would go mix a "Seagram's VO and Coke"...that was his "aiming oil".

With all the drugs I've done, and I don't even know what it's like to shoot under various influences. I didn't begin playing pool until I was over 6 years sober. In high school, I was curious what it would be like to take LSD at a track meet. I had read how an MLB pitcher was on it for a game back in the 70s and pitched pretty sweet. I almost always took ephedrine, which was legal at the time, for meets. Nothing else, though. But for my last high school meet ever, the Boston Catholic League Championships, I said f#*k it. Took a tab on the way there, along with my ephedrine. Won the high jump and had my highest jump of the spring, 3rd in the triple jump and my best jump ever, and flew like a mofo in the 400 relay. I could barely make my way to receive my medal for the high jump, I was so confused. Go figure.

He doesn't know which way is up. He is the one that said GYK was from North Korea on a stream, putting it out there as a recent discovery.

He is very religious-I'm surprised prayer hasn't been a big advantage for him!

If you put SW's whining to one side. IMO he's trying to say that there is a need to have players drug tested in the professional game as we see in all other professional sports.

I know his comments don't suggest that, but once he gets his emotions under wraps and reflects with hindsight, am sure this is what he meant.

Then again. Mr. D trump and Ms H Clinton both sound off like a pair of jacka$$' and in hindsight stand behind their jacka$$ statements, so who knows...

Sooooooo, the person high on drugs has an advantage over the sober person playing pool? How would one think this is possible? I can't imagine being in a tournament and people thinking I have an advantage because I just smoked a joint in the parking lot. I've won plenty of my local tournaments high of weed and coke, but not because I was high, because I put in the work. That's all.
