Amazing Bushka on Craigslist

First, those who think having the owners name on the cue hurts its value, I garantee, would never be a player on this cue. The name actually HELPS authenticate it and may even make it more desireable

As for value, well all I can say is that if I had an expendable 40k I would offer that in a heartbeat after inspecting the cue personally....

SKINS is smoking some serious dope... Really?? $40K
Laughable 😩

Dude...besides Mosconis' cue. This is the biggest I have seen. 40k is where this should be to the big collectors. I think that there would still be some meat on the bone at 40.

I usually don't comment on cue values because it tends to piss people off. Too high or too low tends to offend somebody.

I also feel woefully unqualified in discussions about such cues as this.

But.....I think you are bang on in that range and the comment about the meat.

I also think that somebody who really wants the cue will pay for that extra meat...which puts us up to Skins' higher "bid" range.

The guy is advertising at twice the retail on the cue, and I think he knows that, that's what I thought when I fisrt saw the post. Why? Not sure. If he is not in a hurry to sell he may just be putting it out there with the idea of taking his time to find the highest offer and standing his ground until he hears it.

It is certainly a fine example. If I were him I might do exactly the same. If I were more motivated to sell then I would probably price it at 50k or 55k and take offers. If I needed to sell even more urgently, like to save my house or something, I would offer it at 40k. Fire sale to save my skin because I borrowed too much from Bruno the Knee-Breaker Mancuso? 35k. If you want it from me for 30K there it would require bloodshed to get it.

As far as the name on the cue, it helps ID it and gives provenance. Since it is not a name of any significance it is up to the buyer how it might affect the value. Some might simply prefer it not have a name, but it certainly won't hold back a serious buyer of this level of cue...especially a Bushka I think.

The reality is that in this price range on this type of cue the name engraved can't really curt the value IMHO. If it were something like a $300 cue...yeah, it hurts the value most likely.

If I were the seller I would try to use the name to boost the value. As buyer I would definitely use it to criticize the value and cite it in my offer.

Negotiating a price on such a cue in the context of a private sale, not with a dealer, can easily mean a difference in price equaling a nice Searing, Tasc, or even a Boar, etc. So every little bit of ammo on either side of the negotiations will be used. Including the name on the cue.

Once it is in a real dealer's hands or at least among collectors the value and negotiations will be less volatile and the range of any negotiation will be more narrow.

Ultimately here is where I am on it:

If I were a serious buyer on this cue (and I wish I were) the obvious perovenance is great. But Without the cue being examined, documented, and appraised by an appropriate expert I am going lower. If the seller expects me to do that there is increased cost (because I will have it done) and increased risk on my end. If the seller provides that with the cue, then my cost and risk decrease and I will go higher.

IMHO I understand him starting so high, I probably would if I were the original owner....but I wouldn't without an appraisal, documentation, and professional pictures. And I likely would be paying one of you guys to back me up in the deal because as I said...I am woefully unqualified....

I saw a Balabushka in Chattanooga that had a nameplate and was just as if not more fancy than this one. Room owner had quite the collection.

I wish I could make the Chattanooga show. Especially if Phil is going to bring his collection out for display. But I have two grandkids for the weekend that want to go apple picking so no show for me this time.

You know at least one maker's got 6 - 8 calls on these and is already working out the particulars....

Same rings in the butt as mine....I sure hope there are no "tributes" or "copies" made of either of them.
