There's an announcement about a qualifier at California Billiards in Fremont in another thread.

Yeah, thats what made me ask:D

Just wondering what the races for actual tournament will be....can't imagine anybody coming a long distance(only 12 qualifiers in the US) for race to 6.

Was hoping somebody could give us all the details
Payout
Races
Rules
Etc.

Also the future of the event/s

Sounded like this is gonna be awesome from what I heard on Steinway stream( more than one event/year) not to mention January is coming quick, so people need to plan for the other qualifiers.

Darren talked about his plans on the Sept. 15 American Billiard Radio show. Some things may have changed since then, but you can listen to that for his thinking at that time, which included:

- 9-foot tables, nap cloth, 4 1/4" pockets
- 16-32 qualifiers around the world for each event
- 4-day events
- pay the last 16 players, with $16k-25k for first place
- single elimination
- race to 13 (15 in the finals)
- winner breaks
- break from outside the box (i.e., not from table center)
- must hit the head ball first on the break
- a $2k prize for biggest break-and-run package
- a second-chance event (also with money added) for those not in the final 16 of the main event; low entry fee ($150); races to 7, then 9, then 11 in the finals; pay last 32, with $5k for first place

Whether things like the nap cloth and tight pockets will be doable for the first event at Steinway, I don't know.

That sounds awesome. Nap cloth, long race, single elimination. This is very close to what I was always hoping to see pro pool try. 4 1/8th inch pockets would be better but the cost of altering tables with new rails for the event would not be justified.

This should be awesome, I hope we see Potts coming over for this and a strong Asian presence including former world 8-ball champs Jung Lin Chang and Wu.

Perfect pocket size if they are cut right:thumbup: you can still fire balls in. My $$$ is on Shaw.

Why nap cloth?

IPT also used nap cloth. I believe snooker uses nap cloth. But doesn't nap cloth roll off if the CB is lightly struck? What's the benefit?

Will be nice to see pool played the way it should be again(having to have a good stroke), instead of tapping a ball and it going 3 rails.

We have Finland Qualification tournament on Saturday.. :)
There is not too much peoples participating. Probably due high level of best players. Only winner get a spot to main event on U.S

Some players come also from Russia:
Andrey Seroshtan, Moscow, RU
Fedor Gorst, Moscow, RU
Stanislav Sokolov, St. Petersburg, RU
Alexander Simon, St. Petersburg, RU

Only one top Finnish name so far. Some are on Kuwait and U.S
Jani Siekkinen, Helsinki, FI

And I try my chances also

P.s Jump shot rules seem to be different what info i have so far..

Edit: some rules for jumping so far.. Could still be subject for change what i heard.
Jump Shots:

Allowed only if fully snookered after opponent’s inning (must not be able to see any part of the object ball)
Two (2) jump shots allowed per match per player
Jump shot not allowed if player snookers themselves

I've also tried to attach the relevant pics. Not sure if it will work.

I like the tie breaker and sudden death . Should have done that long ago for pool

I agree. They should also call other E8B monsters like Mick Hill, Chris Meiling
I am guessing with such equipment , the E8B exponents like Darren, Potts,Hill , Shaw will be slight favorites over the WPA 8B guys.

Nap cloth....I assume directional....
...jump rules that sound like red-neck bar rules....

Think I'll find something else to watch

It favors real ball strikers versus bunters of today's game.

I am now at Semifinal :) (Finland qualification)beat Jani Siekkinen 9-6 for that. And that was good because at loser side he faces now Fedor Gorst.

We have amateur stream. Siekkinen vs. Gorst now there.
