New Practice Routine

What do you think about this?

I have been playing a bit for the last 4-6 wks. Hittin em pretty good and making it pay. I have been pretty motivated about playing.

In an effort to make myself play full speed right away, I have been limiting my sets against the ghost to a single race to 3 and I try to play a set once an hour, 2or 3 times a day.

I also plan to have one longer workout, in excess of 90 min, once a week, but can't say I have stuck to more than 30 min at that.

Seems to be working pretty well. Played a tourney day after thanksgiving and instead of warming into the first round's match, I came out like a dragster...top fuel style.

Anybody ever hear of such an approach?

(Me: for mosconi cup 2017. How bad can me be?)

I've gotten to where I don't hit a single practice shot when I first start. I rack the balls, break, and try to run the table. Since I don't have a clue how I, or the table, am playing, it forces me to concentrate on every shot.

I'm doing pretty good at it. Last Sunday, I played without picking up a cue for a week and ran out the first two games I played before I missed a ball in the third rack.

My only problem is getting my eyes focused. My eyes are so bad, it sometimes takes me a while to get tuned in.

The thing that helps me out is trying to keep the same PSR and fundamentals for each shot.

Never heard of such a thing.

I would think that this type of training forces you to focus because the set will be over before you know it, one way or the other.

I like it.

P.S. Maybe good training for our USA Mosconi Cup Team..........

I know I always play best when I first start, I think it is a combination of desire and focus. Unfortunately I'm not usually able to keep the same focus in a long session.

I might suggest gradually lengthening your practice sessions, try to force yourself to focus an extra rack or two a day... Sounds logical..

B-B.....play straight pool...you know...the DCC thing with BIH to start.
....keep trying to beat your high run...it creates pressure with the practise.

Good stuff. Playing against Ghost is great practice if one takes it seriously.
Try add 10-15 minutes practice pinpointed towards your weakness(where focus is just on that weakness, everything else is secondary.).

One major concern is losimg the ability to maintain a constant- and hopefully excellent- level of play for long periods of time.

No. Never gonna happen. Any ball/ any pocket? How hard can it be?!?!?!

Not bad...I think any drill that focuses you on a goal is beneficial. I personally prefer a ladder/progressive drill, such as running three balls in rotation, add a ball, run the four, add a ball, miss a shot in the five ball attempt, go back to four balls, then back to five, add a ball for six, so on....for me, it gets me in stroke and seems to help me in sustaining a gear. Haven't seen results in tournaments yet, but I'm not really playing many lately...

Had 15 min after work today and went to play a set.
3-0
I got whupped.

Punishment? No more pool today

Too subtle BB. So, pretend I have a witty response here and laugh out loud. It will go over well.

Hope you only play the ghost with the 9-ball on the spot, cut break, 3-pt rule.
