Mosconi Cup - Bad winners are worse thn bad losers.

I didnt see any of the Moscnoi cup nor read any other posts besides this one, if this is true there is one simple solution  This isnt strictly directed towards the Europeans but they just happen to have made the perfect example. Let your cue do your shit talking and gloating and leave it at that, all is fair on the table but when the game is over saddle up and move on. Now if your opponents are an asshole during the match (in general not just the Mosconi cup) that could be a different story but I doubt that was the case. Rodney should have just pancaked every MFR that moved their lips.

Actually, the European players didn't disrespect the US players at all. Bergman, on the other hand...Talking shit when you're losing, that's just stupid.

Mr Disque, I too think you are over-reacting!..The following is a post I made after our most recent loss.--->

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=5742406&postcount=7

I am definitely pro-USA, but I feel Barry Hearn is right!..Something has to change, to save the credibility (and interest in) the Mosconi Cup!..Our 'glory days' are long over!

Dick Mc Morran

To save the Mosconi Cup???? It's getting world viewership and is setting all pool-records for live-audiences.... but we have to save it before no one cares????

What I think this is ----- Hearn now sees the potential money that can be made so he's getting greedy. That's fine - I'm a capitalist too... I just wish Americans didn't get screwed on other people capitalizing.

You can expand it all to Asia - that's great.... But you don't have to say, "We're doing this because America is disposable and they suck!" <=== AND THAT IS WHAT WAS DONE.

One thing, I get tired of listening to Jim Wyche, another thing, this poster, pretty much hit it on the head, (No - I don't go in front of a GLOBAL audience and tell them that my opponent sucks so I'm going to look for a better one.

I tell them the truth and say that my opponent is better than what he/she displayed here and he/she wouldn't be here if they weren't great.

I was a big fan of a few European players, just don't think I will be anymore. I know it won't matter to anyone, but it does to me.

So you're not a fan of the Europeans for doing exactly what you said you'd do?

That makes no sense.

No European player even hinted that the US team sucked, they said exactly what you said you'd say yourself in that situation.

What I don't understand is Barry and others are comment about how America can't compete, and how they are going to look to other countries for competition. America won 6 years in a row! As far as I recall there was no talk of how Europe can't compete etc etc.
And After all these wins it's tied up now...Europe needs to back up the bs talking and USA needs to step it up a notch next year! I love the USA team, I have no doubt they can compete. I'd love to see mosconi cup go back to the diamond tables and maybe extend the races that 9 maybe. Thoughts?

The MC is a great event that is professionally staged and it would be great if it became a three team event, with an Asian team.

Not the worst idea, could have a Philippines team, Canada and an Asian roster. Do a round robin prelim and the winners take main stage at the cup

Now in terms on Asai, Alex would play for the Canucks! :)

Is it though? Do you have the actual ratings on hand?

Except it's not.

STOP.

No one used the word "disposable".
No one used the word "suck".

Those were YOUR words. Those were YOUR interpretations.

If you're going to use quotation marks then you have to quote what they said. If what they actually said doesn't lead others to agree with you, you don't get to just make crap up. I understand you feel it wasn't professional, that's your right to your opinion. But don't mislead people.

Simple test

1. Black is a pigment, not a color.

2. White is a pigment, not a color.

3. Team USA could have beaten team Europe if Team USA could have played better than team Europe.

Which statement above is true?

1. All statements above are true.

2. Every statement above is true.

3. No statements above are false.

America is disposable and they suck was never said by anybody. However, in the case of pool, it's a completely accurate statement and if somebody would have said it, which they didn't, I'd have no problem with it as I can handle the truth.

"No disrespect to team America - they aren't good enough." ~Hearn

"It has given us all a problem so I think we have to search it. I have spent the last couple days talking to the best pool players in the world - in Asia. I will take the top pool players, from China, from Korea, from the Philippines and see if we can test these guys, because they weren't really tested by the Americans. It was a one-way street." ~Hearn

"The people at Matchroom feel that the Americans just can't test the European side the way they could in the early days of the Mosconi Cup, so - what do they have to do? --- they have to go to where some of the best pool players on the planet are - and that's Asia. Go to China, go to Taiwan, go to the Philippines... We gotta find the team that can test these guys - because, quite apparently, the Americans can't. ~Jim Wych (*Note the word "we.")

Yup --- Sounds to me like they're saying "American pool players suck." And just minutes after they won. --- But - sugar-coat it all you want.

yeah and im esp amazed how wych and hearn played their doubles.......other than that, the above stated doesnt sound too wrong!

If you are referring to Marcus "The Little Napoleon" Chamat, his words were taken out of context yesterday in his captain's celebratory speech. I know Marcus, and he loves America, American pool, American players, and did live here for a while.

As well, I actually was typing his words when he was speaking yesterday, and I only saved a few sentences to share in another thread. He was giving his team accolades by saying, "We're the best team in the world!" He was excited and happy for the win. He added that, basically, he invited anybody to come play them some, whether it's China, Philippines, et cetera. He wasn't bashing Team USA; rather, he was giving his team accolades. Marcus would *never* have a bad word to say about anybody in the pool world. He's not that kind of guy.

To know him is to love him. He's got heart, humor, and game.

Again, Marcus would never, ever have anything bad to say about America, American pool, or any of its pool peeps.

I watched the video that the OP posted (and please keep in mind that I missed the live celebration, so I did not hear everything that was said, but Marcus did say that "this is probably the best team in the world.... ever", and then he starts woofing about how his team will beat any other team in the world. He is not being humble, and his team is not being humble. Him and his team are gloating over their win, and I do not think that is cool. Then the OP fast forwards the video a little, and it shows that older guy in a suit (I do not know who he is, but he sounded British to me), and he said something like "nothing disrespectful to the Americans, but they were not good enough, so I have got to find someone who is". So, more gloating (from this older British guy in a suit, who I do not know the name of), which in my opinion, is really not cool, and uncalled for. And then he goes on to say that he wants to bring in some teams from Asia, because he needs to find a team that will test the European team, because they were really not tested against the USA team. Even if that is true, I do not think it was a nice thing to say, and I do think it was disrespectful to the US team. What I do not understand is that many of the matches were very close, were they not, and the US only lost by 1 or 2 games in many of these matches. And then Jim Wych comes on, and starts saying something like "the people at Matchroom feel that the Americans can't test the European team, the way they could in the Early days of the Mosconi Cup". It is not like the European team beat them 11 straight sets in a row 5 to nothing or anything even close to that type of a beating. Why not show the US team a little respect? I agree with the OP. There is no need for all of the gloating. Why not be a little humble about their win? If Matchroom really feels like the US no longer deserves to compete against a US team, then they should change the name of the Mosconi Cup to something else, because it is in honor of one of the greatest American players of all time, right? Show a little respect to the Americans (at least in memory of Mosconi himself, who was an American). I just really did not like many of the things that were said in the video that the OP showed.

And Chang Yu Lung for Biado
I respect ur preference but i still prefer Darren over Thorsten.
To me the man'a a beast when he smell MO-NEYYY

1 wpa 9 ball title , wpa 10 ball title at his 1ST TRY , 2 straight Us Open WtFFFFF , CHINA 8BALL (100 K PRIZE MONEY ), his resume is disgustingly loaded.

ACTUALLY I wld prefer Chang Yu lung over biado or orcollo but it wld make the pinoys look bad and its goona look like AN-ALL TAIWANESE TEAM when its suppose to be All-Asian team.

Imo , biado shld replace orcollo as he's young n in his prime whereas Orcollo is getting on ages already.

Just my.2 cents worth

Well - I am grateful that someone can at-least begin to see this.

They acted like we were dogging shot after shot and it's just not the case, BUT (and here's the thing) even if we were playing horrible - it simply is not the time and place to continually say that the American players are not good enough.

If you want to expand the MC - go ahead and expand but to say we cannot compete is FLAT OUT WRONG and proves that anyone who says this simply was NOT PAYING ATTENTION or does not understand pool.

It's a race to 5, alternate breaks --- one bad roll, or one dry break WILL cost you the match and one lucky roll will win the match. The format begs for lopsided scores and if it (the sets) were a race to 11 or 13 you'll see a much closer match.

The Americans were treated unfairy and unprofessionally and you DO NOT play "kick the dog" when you win against ANYONE in ANYTHING. It defines a "lack of class and character!"

Hearn is a businessman. He knows he can fill a venue in Asia. If it happens twice a year it's double the money and double the payout to Europe. Or whoever the best team is.

I think this post has been started by a bad loser, so bad a loser that his disappointment prevented him from hearing or understanding what was said. Passions run deep in sport, I know people who will not accept the truth from things that happened many years ago.

The truth is Chamat captained a very good team that steamrollered a very poor team and then "bigged up" his own very good team. The only thing he said that I took issue with was when he said he believed USA would be back. There is no way back.

Did the European team really play that great though? I seen many shots that really should not have fallen, if they were on good 9 foot tables, with normal rails and normal pockets. I would bet on the best 5 Asian players against the best 5 European players any day. By the way, I am curious how many world cups the European players have won, and how many the Asians have won in the history of the World Cup of pool?

I would like to see Europe against Asia.

Gonna be a really close one.

My ideal dream match-up

Team Europe :

Darren Niel Jayson Albin Mika

Team Asia :

Big Ko , Chang Jung Lin , Wu Chia Ching , Biado n Orcollo

Im having an orgasm just anticipating this ...

How about Lee Vann Corteza?

I have a strange feeling Barry Hearn might pull the Ding Junhui card to give the event a boost. Ding is huge in China, superstar status.

Of course, this coming from the guy that thought Johnny Archer should be castrated and thrown in prison because he got a little excited when his opponent made a critical error.
