All of the matches were on YouTube about an hour after each day of play ended. Genipool put them up on his channel. You can watch every match. Including the comments after the Cup was handed to the Euros.

Stop basing your opinion on the words of others. John is clearly overreacting to some pretty harmless, yet fair, commentary on the US team's performance. They can't keep up with the Euros. And aren't showing progress. Something the Euros DID show, year on year.

Thanks for the info. If I would have known that, then I would have just waited until all of the matches were posted on youtube.

Okay, it has been proven that the US team just can't compete with the European team in that event (and in the format that has not changed, with the short races, and the very loud crowd of obnoxious fans).

But, in your opinion, are the European players really that much better then the US players, when playing in singles competition?

I do not feel the European players or captain showed poor sportsmanship of any kind.

Let them celebrate their excellence with the same animation and enthusiasm that they show during the cup. It's part of their formula.

Given you took offence to what you thought were comments by the European team and then took offence to what Barry Hearn said, do you not feel slightly hypocritical labelling the European fans as 'obnoxious'?

I'm not saying you're right or wrong...merely that given your previous comments, its a bit of an inconsistent stance!!

I did think that all of them jumping on the pool table and jumping up and down on it was kind of out of line, and what about Shaw tossing his pool cue (on to the floor, I think toward the American team, lol) and not even giving his opponent a proper hand shake? Not even a little out of line? Cue tossing, and jumping up and down on top of the pool table. What type of behavior is that?

Typical Mosconi Cup behaviour.

The cue tossing is a bit odd, I think Darren started that, not sure why, but the only issue I have with it is that it may damage some pretty expensive cues, I don't see how its disrespectful in anyway at all!

Jumping on the table was started by Earl years ago and is standard practice now for any Mosconi Cup victors, again nothing disrespectful to the opposing team here (although the table fitter may not be to impressed)!

The one point I do agree with you on is the handshake, however as with jumping on the table its been standard in the Mosconi Cup for years, after the final game the winning player always gets jumped on by his team and seems to forget about his opponent, again that was started by the US years ago when they were on a roll, but has been carried on by the Europeans since. I don't like it personally, I think you should shake hands then celebrate, but both sides have form here (over the 23 year history of the cup) so no point crying about it!

I should have watched the entire interview (that the OP skipped over part of), before I stated an opinion about the Europe captain, so I regret and take back what I said about him. I never said that the European players said anything offensive about the US team. At this point, I just do not like something that the promoter said (that I thought was out of line). Yeah, I thought that crowd was being very loud and obnoxious (if I understand the meaning of that word correctly, lol). I am not too bright (constantly having to look up the spelling and the meanings of certain words, lol).

I'm not that's saying your wrong at all TBH...merely that your stance is hypocritical in that it's fine for you to criticise a group (the European fans) but not okay for others to do the same.

Not at all, you're perfectly entitled to your view, I'm just saying that the US gives as good as it gets, we just haven't seen it for 7 years so maybe people have forgotten!

Humiliation? Who in the European team humiliated anyone (other than by dominating the scoring)? Or even criticised? :confused:

Over and over and over they said the Americans can't hang with them so they have to go to Asia. (..... and just minutes after the Mosconi Cup. It was the most disrespectful display of "kick the dog" I have ever witnessed).

That's fine - stay in Asia and stay the hell out of America!

SUCKING is waaay to harsh and demeaning, after all Marilyn Chambers, Monica Lewenski sucked...our guys just snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with alarming redundancy. One of our players scratched 4 or 5 times with 3 of those coming late in racks on open tables. Not counting the break i think those 4 or 5 scratches may be equal to or greater than the cumulative total of team euro
 
They are the best team

Clearly, Europe has the best team for the format being played at the Mosconi Cup.

The 9 ball is racked on the spot, alternating breaks and short races.

They are the best at that format,

We still have one guy who is better then all of them and none of them call Shane out for a big money game with long sets and winner breaks in 9 or 10 ball.

None of them are as good at 9 or 10 Ball as Shane is.

So we still got the best player!
 
Europe won, accept it, be merry that there were so many incredible matches!

As far as etiquette goes, that Americans started this whole winner craze. Now the Europeans are doing it, too. I don't like it.
Even a very friendly man-hug would be a very great gesture! Without the "other side" there wouldn't be any games and you shall be thankful for your opponents.

OTOH there is a lot (a lot!) of pressure that needs to be relieved when the last 9 finally drop.s Humans are like that.

Can't see why Europe suddenly is a "bad winner".
USA won 6 times in a row back in the 90s, we now did 7 times in a row.

Maybe now is the time to redefine the pool game in the USA and start approaching it methodically instead of instinctive.
