How accessible are top snooker players?

If any of us wanted to, we could seek out and play just about any top pool player for a couple hundred dollars or less... I remember, not too long ago, Orcollo wanting to play $50 sets with anyone around.

If we wanted to play some one-on-one with Lebron James, (if that's even possible) we'd probably have to win a drawing with Powerball-like odds, or make a charitable donation approaching six figures or more.

Where do the top snooker guys fall on that spectrum?

Is it common knowledge where these guys practice and hangout, and can a guy walk in with short money and get played by Ronnie O'Sullivan, or any top 100 player?

I think you may get a better answer in the snooker group, but the last time I saw Ronnie, he asked me to play and was happy to start at $20. (How's that for name dropping?)

I think your best chance would be at an exhibition of some sort. I have the impression that the top players have a pretty full schedule.

I am sure that they would play anyone for small stakes. Lunch money is needed.

It depends on their schedule and what is available. At the Derby a few years ago my friend was practicing by himself. Shane asked him if he wanted to play. They played for about 1/2 hour, no money involved before Shane had to leave for his match.

accessible but not as much as pool players

catch em at the club and 200 pounds will guarantee you action and a long set with most of em

if you're looking to learn, cheaper to hire them though for teaching cause you'll get smoked in a money match and they're not big on handing out handicaps in money games at least not big ones

a top amateur at a club will teach you anything ronnie could at a good rate

Did you get him?

I got his autograph on his new autobiography. But he was filming a segment for the History Channel and the bet was make-pretend. The last set of 8 ball he was spotting me that he goes to 4, I go to 2, and I tell him which hand to shoot with on each shot. He shoots mostly right-handed at snooker but prefers to play pool left handed, so that didn't help much.

Most players play at a club that is open to anyone. Rob Milkins for example plays at Southwest Snooker Academy, which is open to the public. The Grove Snooker Academy boasts players like Judd Trump and Neil Robertson. I think you can get lessons there, but I don't know if you can play there regularly. Other pros play at local clubs.

So it's not hard to find top players and watch them practice, but whether they will play you is all down to the individual player and their preference.
