Yellowing Balls

I recently came across a (used) cue ball that had been in a box for maybe three years or so. While being stored, it became noticeably yellow. I've seen this happen to a number of older pool balls. So two questions:

1.

I love this question, I have a set someone gave me and they are yellow! I've never tried to restore them thinking it would be impossible. Can they ever have the proper luster again?

Play with them, and the colors will be restored.

Yes playing with them will help but you need more. Wait until it is sunny and put them out in the sun and rotate the balls. I did this to a set of Centenials and Aramath Tournaments for a little over a week and they improved quite a bit. I then I sold them because i had two new sets

They yellow from age. Mine look like a California sunset.
If you had a restored Centennial sitting in your game room, a yellowed set of balls might be just the ticket. An 'old timey' look.

We will offer pool ball restoration shortly which will remove yellowing. We've been bleeding at the eyes and finger tips working on a project(for ever it seams) to be able to offer the process to the public.
