Trouble getting butts out of case Question

So I just purchased my third JB case which is a 2x3. I'm older with a touch of arthritis and week fingers. I find it almost impossible to get the buts out as they are pressed up against the side. I have the joints facing up with predator new style joint protectors on. It would be great if someone made them with a ring or T or something easy to grab on the end. Any thoughts or ideas?

This is not a knock on JV as I love the rugged cases and have three.

Thanks,

You could always have a word with JB to see if it is possible to have the body of the case slightly shorter, so when you unzip the lid and fold it back, your cues are sticking out an inch. Now you should be able to grab them easier.....Just a thought.

What kind of joint? What pin?

If I remember correctly those Predator joint protectors are just all smooth on the side right? Really helps to have a little texture or something on them if possible. I have a set made from pool balls that just have a couple grooves cut around on the top and it helps so much to be able to get a solid grip.

You could try to add some texture somehow to those, maybe cut a groove in some way. Or have some custom ones made....the guy I got mine from is on FB. They aren't exactly cheap but they're really well made and I like the set I have a lot.

Seems you could just screw the shaft on while the butt is still in the case, no? Once you've screwed in a couple of threads the butt should come right out.

When JB cases are full, the cues are very tightly packed in the ultrapad interior. Put one of the butts in upside down. This will leave more space at the bottom and they will be easier to remove.

Also as suggested you can screw the shaft on and pull it out that way. However I find the above an easier solution.

John sells a sleeve/sock type with a loop on the end to pull out your cues if they are hard to pull out.
He has a video on YouTube showing this option and how to use them.

Nobody has put as much efforts into case making as the JB case crew.

Just be mindful of ceiling fans around you.

Back in the late 90's a girl in the bar asked if she could look at my '92 Schon...I handed it to her and she proceeded to lift it straight into the ceiling fan...snapped the ferule right off!

I just watched his video where he actually did a demo for two of the cases and I will try a few other methods as he recommends. One problem I have is I tried putting a BK3 in pin up but was concerned the rubber but cap would wear away at the material as it feels like it catches as you put it in. Thanks everyone.

Tequila always seems to have the effect of getting the butts out; wanted or not. Hope this helps.

I always put my pin up, and I have had no material wear at all. Been using it over a year.

If I add another cue it is very hard to pull them out. That's when I switch oine or two to go pin down and it works great.

I have the same problem with my JB 2x3 case....Have joint protectors on and they are face up..But hard to get ahold of....I try when putting them away to not push them down far..I leave them as high as I can so the lid just closes...this helps some what...
I love the case though...

Even in Johns video of the 2x3 you can see him struggle to get the butts out. If someone would just make a joint protector with a small t or a ring....

I'm still concerned with putting the BK3 pin up as the rubber end cap really pulls the material on the way down.

For the record i love my JB cases. I played in the USAPL's in Vegas this year and bought a 2x5 and found out it was also a 3x4 (big bonus). Got all the extra's including back straps. Then I got a 1x2 for when I was just going out to hit some balls and then rounded it out with a 2x4 for weekly play. All since July.

And people tell me I'm crazy for liking tube cases. This is why I do. These interiors do offer great protection but there's a trade off, struggling as so many state here & being too close together.

I'll stick with felt lined tubes, none of these problems & never had a cue damaged yet.

Since you seem sold on JB's case, I'd suggest concave shaped joint protectors.
