THANKS HomeBrewer!
I will get in touch with Yura and see what he has available.
What size and brand of table did you get?
I am going to visit Platinum Billiards to check out their table soon.
BTW, do you brew beer primarily or do you make other liquor?
Thanks,
JoeyA
I got a 10 foot heated Gabriels of the previous generation, with solid rails and the welded i-beam construction. That was important to me because it's a solid piece of construction (the i-beam frame, slate and the rails are all bolted together completely) and unfortunately the room I've got it in has had subsidence issues in the past -- I needed to know I could just re-level at the legs if I ever had an issue with my floor sinking another 1/2" or so.
Before that deal came through (total blind stupid luck; I wasn't looking for it) I was dealing with beneath_the_sur for a month or so prior on lining up a SAM table and I can say he was awesome to work with, even answering questions at midnight or later, just generally enthusiastically talking billiards, etc. Hell, he's even exchanged several emails helping me with something today, so there you go.
Provided you play on a SAM and like it (the new room coming on the westbank will have some I think) I'd have no hesitation working through getting a SAM or another brand with Richard.
Other people like Ron Kilby have provided me great advice on table selection, too, and I think some of it also seems to come down to the relative difficulty of servicing heating systems if they act up, because of how they're configured by different manufacturers, although Yura's take on that was that he can fix anything, of course!
Come pass through Mandeville and hit a few on mine - I'm just 5 or 10 minutes from the base of the bridge.
I used to brew beer but haven't for several years, unfortunately.
