Jack Justis Case: What Would You Do?

I've had this case for quite a while; it has some damage and i'm debating what to do with it.

At this point, I think l'm gonna let it go to a new owner.

it's a Roadrunner and I'm guessing it's a fairly early one. Not sure if Jack ever put dividers in these but this one has none. I remember back in the old days, guys weren't as concerned, generally speaking, about whether their cue butts would contact their shafts.

This particular case has damage where it looks like the pin of the cue that resided inside this case eventually wore a hole through the leather. The pics showing this are poor but you can make it out and as you can see the hole isn't big but it is def a hole.

it is in nice vintage cond with patina (plus the hole). I think it's a very cool case.

So, what are the options if I want to repair it? Can a leather repair guy fix this easily to where it wouldnt look too bad.

And is it even worth it - I really don't know the value of these?

What do you all think?

best,
brian kc

if

If your a one pocket player and only need 1 cue i would use it, if it was me. Nice old case
sorry don't no a value.

Yes, most any leather repair/shoe repair could get it looking very nice. Patching from the underside of the hole and matching dye would have it respectable for 20+ more years. No clue on value or if it's worth it to you. I'd imagine it would be a very inexpensive job for a competent leather worker.

Brian,

If I recall Jack was selling these for about $150. He used to make batches every once in awhile. I bought a couple and gave them out as gifts. They are a great travel case because they'll fit easily into a large size suitcase. I tool one to China with me.

It's probably worth about $150 even as is.

If you love it fix it. Or simply leave around as a piece of art or collectable.

to be honest, it doesn't look bad sitting in the rec room like an object d'art, is that how the high falluting folks call it?

did I spell falluting right? :D

'High falutining' might be better expressed in the more demotic 'falutin''....
...it was used by the riff raff and rustics to poke fun or actually sneer at moneyed folks.

Been around for about 170 years...actually refers to the 'high fluted funnels' of steamboats
that the wealthy or nouveau riche travelled on.

pt....pedantics r us
