Can an entire, functional break shaft...

NO......
Dave

Thanks. What would be the issue? My curiosity often gets the better of me, and I've always sort of wondered why Mike G stopped at a 1-piece tip/ferrule and didn't go for the whole shaft.

I'd also like the looks of the colored shaft. Would look a little like a lightsaber.

Weight, resonance, cost would all be prohibitive.

Years ago, I was a drummer and thought the same thing. I found some red drum sticks made out of some transparent plastic. I thought they were pretty cool until I tried to play with them. Much too heavy and didn't bounce/flex the same as wooden sticks.

Dude, you played tubs ???
Me too, still have a set in the basement.
Spent my first 35 yrs in Detroit.
Did some pretty cool gigs.
Been thinking about making PH sticks.
Oak Pro-Marks got expensive.
Didn't break many, just wore them out.
Ain't this a trip.

Made some PH sticks a couple of years ago as a custom request. Drummer just broke one so I was told.

I made some PH drumsticks for a guy - he was tall/long armed and wanted 15 inch sticks.
My 2 cents,
Gary
