Szamboti on Ebay

I think this is the first time I remember seeing this one on Ebay. Makes me wonder why the cue didn't sell in the past. Fake? Money not right? HHHMMMMMM.

Yeah....I think he wants way too much for a szamboti merry widow....the price he asking...I rather get a fancy Gus

Absolutely. The only exception would be if I was rich and then I'd just
buy them both. Oh well, I guess I can forget that...haha

The first time it posted on ebay, I brought it to their attention that the letter didn't match the cue and they pulled it. It is a pawn shop out of Phoenix and I believe the reserve was around $20,000 when I inquired.

Dang, 20K? LOL That might be a bit strong for a cue that the letter didn't match the cue.

I figure it is worth in the 5's IF it had a letter from B. Szamboti that matched the cue.

20K reserve? Somewhat steep for this cue, I think. Not sure of the authenticity, someone may know for sure. I haven't seen other merry widow Gus Szamboti's, and I haven't seen any other Gus cues with predominately white joint collars either. Doesn't mean it isn't a Gus, but if so, very unusual. Looks more like Frank Paradise, or Doc Frye in design to me, but anything is possible. These are interesting to see, I must admit.

All the best,
WW

It might be worth some extra cheddar if it had a colorful history.... like Ronnie Allen used it to bar the Mens room door at the Rack in '78 while he and other un-named parties ran out the door with the remainder of their nutt. But I don't think its worth more than 10K. Might could sell for around $5K realistically.

If Gus mase the cue and if it's sound, it wouldn't surprise me no matter what it sold for. There's hat for every head...

Also $45 shipping sounds close shipped USPS Priority no insurance or slower insured for a couple thou..

It's like if you bought a 30,000 dollar car and then they said look we need 22 dollars for the windshield wiper fluid in addition to the 30 grand you just gave me.

Well the cue isnt even close to 30k.. More in the 5k range so them asking for shipping is plausible...

Regardless, at some point youre going to have to refill and spend that $22 aren't ya...

Yeah, but why pay it twice?
I used to be in the golf business, and I saw a golf pro sell a set of new clubs to a customer, and the customer also wanted a bag of tees.
The pro charged him another 25 cents for the tees, so the customer decided he'd buy the clubs somewhere else.
Some people just don't get it (not implying you, Skins)

If I suddenly hit the lottery and decided to spend a bunch of cash on a Szamboti I'd want one with those Szamboti points.

Pay twice?? When would you pay twice?

What you're saying is, since I spend "x" I should be "given" x.. THAT is between you and the seller if you decide to buy, otherwise it's their perogitive to charge every penny they choose to make the deal worth it for them regardless of what anyone else thinks... The other way sets a precedent of entitlement that hasn't been earned... (Not implying you, JohnnyOzone)
