Highest Fargo rating out there I found was 940

Has anyone seen a higher fargo than this Chang, Fu (948849) 940

he only has 2 games counted but he must have payed pretty flawless. got me thinking what is the highest fargo out there and who has it?

Only 2 games counted? How can he have a Fargo rating then? I do not know, but I imagine that you would need to have a certain amount of games in the system before it gives you a rating. If not, then it makes the rating system even more silly.

Since he invented it, Mike Page is the "go to" person with questions about Fargo Rate, and he answers most posts concerning that here.

All you need to do is go online to the site and check the top whatever list.

The top 10 world males are

1 Wu, Jiaqing CHN 834
2 Van Boening, Shane USA 822
3 Shaw, Jayson GBR 814
4 Orcollo, Dennis PHL 814
5 Feijen, Niels NED 811
6 Ko, Pin Yi TWN 810
7 Chang, Jung Lin TPE 809
8 Biado, Carlo PHI 807
9 Ko, Ping Chung TPE 803
10 Pagulayan, Alex CAN 802

940 is pretty impressive but you can play SVB and break and run two racks then quit and you will have a perfect rating. Just not very robust LOL.

I know I have the highest Fargo rating in my immediate family. My Brother in Law is higher than me, so I can't just say "family", that jerk.

With only 2 games played he would have had to have a 2-0 match to be rated higher than the best pro player, which seems to mean he has not completed even a full match in any normal competition. There is some chance that there was an error in a name entry and he doesn't even exist as Fu Chang.

I think it is better to ignore the ratings of people who have very few matches in the system.

Since I'm tired of replying to Justin, I'll explain.

The rating system may or may not be flawed, that is not an issue. It definitely isn't a 'silly' system.

How the ratings are used could be a problem. If, for instance, I played one perfect match against someone highly rated and got an 800+ rating because of it, and I was not allowed into a tourney because of that, well, that would be silly, especially if there were other evidence that I wasn't an 800-level player.

Having a rating and having a valid, robust rating are not the same things.

The issue was with the comment about the system "being even more silly". Which implies he thinks the Fargo rating is silly.

From all the stats I have seen on matches when they compared Fargo ratings, the end results were dead on in many cases. I do not like ratings that many tours do because they are often not correct (I see many C players that should be Bs and B- or B players that are closer to B+ or A for example), but I have not seen someone with a Fargo rating that was much over or under what they really play like.

People like you are pretty much the reason we had some very smart folks back in the day draft up that little thing called the constitution. Seriously, get off your high horse.
 
Actually I did not post an opinion...but left the explanation to be answered from the horse's mouth, Mike Page. I don't know about being on a "high horse", but I recognize a horse's a$$ when I see one! I'm an American patriot and all for the US Constitution...how's that working for you in Greece?

i wouldnt call it silly either, but he surely have a right to his opinion!

and i agree with you, it shouldnt be used for tourneyentries since the flaws cant be overseen (atleast on worldranks, no idea how it plays out in the US only)! in the end its a nice list to watch on for a good smile!

Yes, a person has a Fargo Rating only with a minimum of 200 games in the system. When this happens the word "established" appears along with the displayed number.

I never said that it shouldn't be used for tourney entries, in fact, I think it is a fine way to limit tourneys to certain skill levels. I just don't think that a rating based on very few games should be used.

Mr. Page stated that 'established' happens after 200 games. Likely a good number if there is enough crossover with people/skill levels/areas in those 200 games.

Well Justin was sort of right but he doesn't know enough about the system to know about robustness and starter ratings and such. So his contribution did little to clarify the situation.

I am sorry. I just do not understand how a player can have a Fargo Rating after only 2 games. This must be an error, right? That player must have had more then just 2 games in the system before he obtained a Fargo rating.

Okay, so instead of confusing people (like me and maybe the OP), why does the system allow a player to have a rating after just 2 games in the Fargo Rate system? I understand the "Robustness" part now. It was just confusing to me.
