Southwest compound taper butt?

Two all beef patties lettuce cheese pickles onions on a sesame seed bun.

If only we had that special sauce!

This is getting absurd.

looks like the best you can hope for here is a lecture. Sorry bout that. I would contact someone on the for sale site who is selling one and explain the situation. They just might be kind hearted enough to take some calipers and measure it for you. I just hope you never are asked to help someone out on something like your shaft machine that you so graciously posted on this forum. I have seen other photos posted by you on other items of interest also. Looks like the street is only running in one direction!

Right.
That Mike Webb dude is never helpful here.
He's never shared any secrets he's learned in decades of cue making and repairing.

I'm not really taking it that hard Charlie, it just got a little silly.

I'm sure Mike has his reasons although they make no real sense to me.

If it's out of respect for SW then why does he possess what I asked for?

Probably for much the same reasons I was curious about it.

I'm just the mouse in the story of the lion and the mouse. What will I ever possibly have that he wants right?

But then again you never know. It's a funny world.

A member here has graciously offered to measure one up for me via PM.

Everyone have a great rest of your weekend!

Hackery is not to be encouraged and silver spoons are in short supply.

If unique is what you seek, copying won't get you there.
You don't learn to draw by tracing.

BTW, how's that new finish working-out for you ?

So many paths and too many choices. Oh my, what shall we do ?
Pick one and pursue it.
On the other hand, the herd does offer a certain level of comfort.

Be not concerned the ramblings. The truth speaks itself.

It's nothing personal John. If this was a private forum. I probably would have given them to you. But here we have more responses from non Cue makers than Cue makers. I should have said that earlier. When I want the spec's of a certain cue that I have not worked on yet. I call the maker. I keep a book on most cues I've worked on with their spec's. It's a good book. I'm sure that the others who specialize in repairs also keeps one. The hidden rule is. It's not for public view.

This just clicked. It's a good story if you can get anything out of it.
About 30 years ago, Joe Porper wanted to know the specs of Southwest. Joe called up Jerry and said, I'm experimenting with tapers. Can you make me a plain jane? Although the tapers may vary, some of the Porpers are simular. Almost everyone I know has experimented. The only one I know of that has been consistant and never changed is. Jerry McWorter. Good memory for me. Watch, observe, study.

I'm working on my finish, thank you for your heart felt concern.

no disrespect to Mike. just the thought that all of us need a helping hand from time to time. My suggestion to look in the for sale area was another possibility of solving his dilemma. I have made cues for decades also and never share anything, lol.

Devil's advocate here.
Let's say you copy SW's taper.

Then someone says or claims your cues hit like SW.
Then it catches on. True or not . How many times have we heard that claim?

Do you really want that rep?

Yeah and God-help-him if it "hits like a ton".
