Should Earl be in the 2017 Mosconi Cup as a wildcard pick? Vote yes or no.

Love Earl as a person and as a player, Ive admired his game for years.

To answer the question though, no, he should not be on the team.

Is he still capable of getting it on, damn right he is. But that is a gamble that should not be taken IMO.

No, the last time he was on there was the most unwatchable Mosconi cup for me. His antics were embarrassing. If he behaved himself, would love to watch him.

That's a fair assumption. I can see how you would think that.

He's recently come back from a hiatus and is playing very strong. He won a local tournament here in Maryland, 128 players, which contained some heavy hitters in our region, i.e., Mike Davis, Shaun Wilkie, Brandon Shuff, Eddie Abraham, Ryan McCreesh, Matt Krah, Tony Long, White Max, James Aranas, et cetera. I can't remember who else was in the tournament, but there were some strong local players in it to win it.

The current Don Coates Memorial Tournament, which is in progress at the time of this writing, Earl is putting on a show and everybody is remarking about how strong his game is.

Just putting out the facts, though I do appreciate you sharing your thoughts, rationale, and opinion.:)

Let's see how he does in Raleigh this week. I think the hiatus Earl has taken in recent months has improved his game and outlook on pool. That's the only reason I'm promoting him for the upcoming Cup. We need an Earl Strickland in the mix. He always gives 100 percent of himself in every tournament. He's not there to get screwed, get high, get drunk, go sightseeing, and entertain a family. His mission is to win for USA.
Just my opinion. :)

Right, but he's mellowed now........:rotflmao1:

Who wouldn't want to see him matched up again with Karl.:canoodle:

Good Times.

Yep. Me too. I'd love to see Earl spank a few of those guys.

It's funny that whenever anyone says something bad about pro pool players you throw a hissy and berate them.

But when you insinuate that many of the USA Mosconi players 'screw whores', 'get high', and 'gamble all night', it is perfectly okay.

Bless your heart, you are the biggest hypocrite.

Well, I'm sorry to say that what happened in Vegas during the Mosconi Cup did not stay in Vegas. And I'll just leave it at that.

I think when Matchroom Sport is giving each player a guaranteed payday to show up and shoot pool, they should give 100 percent of their effort to the cause. I am ashamed to say this did not happen with some past Mosconi Cups in Vegas.

Had a four hour training session wit Earl many years ago. Super nice guy to all the folks that were their. However, he got on the table, just to do practice shots, pretty intense guy.

He definitely gives 100 percent of himself when he's playing. I saw him racking balls and breaking them and racking balls and breaking them for one solid hour one time. He never shot any balls in the pocket. He just kept racking and breaking, racking and breaking. :p

If it was a trade off between having terrible sportsmanship but one of our best players, it might be something to think about it. Like if SVB had Earl's sportsmanship, that might be a tough decision. But fortunately there are enough other top players that there's nothing to think about.

I bet a lot of fans would like it. It would be like Mayweather-Mcrgegor and all that BS. But I'm not interested in the drama and embarrassment, I'd prefer to just watch well-played pool without the dread that some personal flare-up might happen at any moment.

That was a really messed up competition...and it wasn't Earl's fault.

I voted for Earl to be on the team...doesn't mean a lot being a Canuck 'n all...
....but Earl has a gear that hardly anyone in billiards ever had....
...and he seems healthy and playing well right now.

Forget about all his titles, as impressive as they are, this is the man who ran 11 racks
for a million...I've said before that many players who excel under heat could not have
accomplished this feat...their hearts would've exploded around the 7 pack mark....
Earl did it because he's a POOL PLAYER....the money was always secondary.

So if THAT Earl shows up, he would be invaluable to the team...
...that's the guy that Shane admires.

And we want Shane to feel good during the Cup. He has already developed an excellent rapport with Sky. Shane, Sky, and Strickland for the Cup. SSS, the three S's! Might have to come with a logo now. :)

I voted for Earl as well. I think in a short race, he could do some damage!

Exactly right! Believe me, there ain't one European player who wants to face Earl on the other end of the table. He will put a little nervousness in their stroke. He's intimidating because he's Earl.

Earl is still the MAN! As long as he has been playing he still looks forward to it as though he just discovered the game...still motivated to play.

You got to respect that..

That's what I'm talking about. Right on, Tonyboy59. :)
