You need help! Figures somebody with the same "issues" as Earl would want him on the team. Attack, attack, attack, keep up the good work. Now you've attacked my personal life without knowing shit about me. You are a sad person that was never anything in the pool world except somebody who slept with players, I guess that makes you a know it all. I have never respected somebody for who they sleep with, and I don't think the rest of the world does either.

Btw, Earl is losing in the poll, just like you are losing in this thread.

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean you find that real hard to believe? Your sentence needs a period or a comma, I think.

But, if that's what you mean, no, that is not what I believe. I believe there is an existing lot of banned members posting on this forum that have multiple identities as well as trolls who target well-meaning posts on a regular basis and contribute flippant remarks in threads that have no value.

I understand you, for instance, are not in favor of Earl being on the team. That's fine. Everyone is entitled their opinion, but you never had a personal attck on me, spoke about my other half by dragging his name in the thread, or told me I have my head up Earl's butt. Things like that is what I am referring to when I say trolls and banned members posting.

I never thought you or anyone else who said they did not want Earl on the team and expressed their opinion without a personal attack was a troll or a banned member posting.

There is a pattern on this forum. You get to know who's who after a while. Sometimes I reply to them; sometimes I ignore them.

Hope that clears it up for you as to what I deem as a troll and a banned member posting. :)

I've never punched my sister in my life. She just turned 70 and is a grandmother. Isn't she pretty? :smile:

This post just goes to prove that senility is a serious problem in this country and needs to be addressed. Ill never understand the mindset of some people. They think its ok to take a jab at someone but cant handle getting a jab back in return. Constantly victimizing their self to the point of it getting ridiculous. This was a simple thread that has somehow turned into a war between one person and the entire forum. I can see that there is a very long history of this with a certain poster. Good luck to both sides. Im out

You have "friends" cause of your other half, otherwise it would be very few if any. Not many people are on here to see how many "friends" they can have, this isnt FB. I doubt many even know that "friends" is an option, most of us don't concern ourselves with such childish nonsense.

I won't go back and forth in this thread because I have better things to do, but I will say that I consider JAM to be my friend. She's always been nice to me when I've reached out to her. I think we've been I touch since one of my deployments back in 2005 or so. I think she finds herself in the middle of a lot of feuds because she is very passionate about pool, but I rarely ever see her be the aggressor. If disagreeing with her floats your boat, go for it.
 
As much as I agree with everyone saying that Earl is a legend and has a top gear that is nearly impossible to match, I still had to vote "No". The Mosconi cup is a team event, and Earl is just not a team player. Furthermore, as a/the senior member of a the team, we would be looking for him to be a leader, and I just don't see that happening.

Earl is a perfectionist when it comes to pool, and will blame anything other than himself when something goes wrong. When he's playing an individual event, it's the crowd, his opponent, or the equipment. When it's a team event, his teammates get added to that list. Rather than inspiring his team, he adds to the pressure. Between that and his volatility, I can't imagine trying to keep focused with him as a teammate. As much as the US needs all the talent we can get to even compete with the Europeans, I think that adding Earl to the mix is so bad for the team chemistry that it decreases our chances.

The other consideration for me is the fact that the Mosconi Cup is really more of a series of spectacles than a serious pool competition. It's a bunch of short 9-ball races that could easily go either way. Over the course of the tournament, the luck tends to level out and the better team prevails, but the format is designed to make the individual sets quick and exciting to watch. With that in mind, what I want to watch is a bunch of elite pool players competing AND having a good time. I enjoyed watching Rodney, Sky, Justin, and Corey, especially in doubles matches; simply because they seemed to be enjoying it themselves. Watching Earl sulk and complain the whole time just isn't fun.

Earl is one of the greats, and part of that was playing on winning Mosconi cup teams, but that was then, and times have changed.

Dont wanna go back and forth with you you either(i like your posts) she finds herslf in the middle cause she brings it on herself, always namecalling and then becoming the victim. Just because somebody says they are a victim doesnt make it so.
If we weren't ALL passionate about pool we wouldnt be here, so that is an invalid reason to act the way she does. Earl is passionate too - does thay get him a pass as well

Thank you, ease-e. I am very fortunate to have your friendship too. We've come a long way, baby! :)

I can take a heated debate on any topic, but when Keith's name is dragged in the thread because somebody wants to target me or when I am told that my only contribution to the pool world is that I sleep with pool players, it's insulting and disrespectful to me as a female. It's hard to sit back and not respond.

I've run pool tournaments as a tournament director and competed on pool leagues and actually went on the road several times on pool's golden years, long before some of these members on this thread were even born. But I've hung out in pool rooms many, many days of my life, so I know it takes a village to make a pool room. Seen a lot of disagreements in pool rooms, but it's usually about money. :grin-square:

Some of the replies on this thread are kind of comical. I am going to take tonyboy59's advice and just consider the source. Thank you, tonyboy59. :)

Back to the topic of this thread, do I think Earl will get on the Cup? Nope. But I thought I'd throw it out there and hope for a healthy back-and-forth colloquy. As is a lot of things in AzBilliards Land, the thread erupted in flames. Hopefully, this thread will die out and a new subject matter will become front and center on the Main Forum in coming days.

Thanks to all who voted and shared your thoughts and opinions. No matter who's on the team, I will be rooting for USA, all the way. I think y'all know that, though. :grin-square:
