So I was hitting balls around the other day at the house. My pool room felt a little warm. I checked the temp and saw it was nearly 75°. I don't know about everyone else, but I like a pool room to be in the mid to high 60's at most. That got me thinking of something.....a game on ice.

Imagine an ice bed pool table. Instead of playing with balls you play with hockey pucks. The cushions are still cloth and rubber. Playing position would be limited to working with angles and spin, considering there'd be no follow or draw available.

It doesn't have to be ice. It could be built like an air hockey table and use air pressure instead of ice. Either way you could control puck speed or table speed by roughing the ice surface, or if using air you could increase or decrease the air pressure.

Any thoughts? Who wants to build one?

That ice table is a weird thing. Using balls on ice is not good -- the surface is too inconsistent to allow a decent roll. Also there would be no english grabbing the cushions. It's a cheesy game for non-pool players.

I'm talking about using hockey pucks, where the entire surface area of the puck is contacting the ice and the cushions are not ice. That would provide for accurate sliding of the cue puck into the object puck, and also provide good directional spin off the cushions. It would be like an air hockey table with six holes instead of two and cue sticks instead of paddles.
 
Keeping the surface level would be a challenge, unless you build a miniature zamboni and have a trained gerbil to operate it.

Lol! I guess air would be the best table option, like an air hockey table.
