HUGE Action match Day 3 Gabe Owen vs Danny Smith

9-8 is considered more than 1/2 a ball, almost a ball.

Lou Figueroa

I think Jay's assessment is more accurate than yours.

The higher the ball count the spotted player needs to run to, the less of a spot it is.

So, if 8-7 is roughly a ball spot, 9-8 would be fairly significantly less. I would judge 1/2 to be about correct. I've gambled a little giving spots in One pocket, and I would be significantly more confident giving someone 9-8, as opposed to 8-7.

About a half ball more confident.

Isn’t this funny? Jay has been around pool forever, says it’s a half ball spot. Lou has been around for a long time, says it’s closer to a full ball spot. I’ve been playing for over 20 years and have no problem calling it a one ball spot. Seems like a very muddy subject.

Reminds me of a story from Robins' one pocket book....

Strawberry needs one ball and fires it at his hole....the "non-Aramith" breaks in two...
...about a third of the ball is still wobbling around the table...
"What happens here?" is asked.....UJ Puckett, who is betting against Strawberry, says
"Well, it seems like Strawberry still needs almost half a ball."

It is closer to a ball than half a ball.

All this nonsense about a spot, when explain this was meant to be for the game

count. Tied up again..Who cares about the spot...1/2 ball full ball, must be a good MF

spot, because they are tied!!!

Is there a stream issue? It shows 62-61 but a posting from Terry 30 minutes ago showed 62-62?

Well that’s great but most knowledgeable 1pocket players (and statistical analysis) would show you wrong. It’s a small but sophisticated differentiation.

Lou Figueroa

Oh, well then.... I guess I have been officially "educated" by my betters.

LOL.

Around the middle (8 Balls required) it's pretty linear. 7-8 is a bigger spot than 8-9 by about 10%. On the edges it get's huge. I would much rather get 4-8 as opposed 8-12.

In a classic sense give a ONE BALL SPOT is 7-8 because I need to make one fewer balls to win. 8-9 I still need to make 8 obviously. Therefore my effort to win is the same as a unhandicapped game.

As always Jay is correct...Jay is never wrong. Somebody should put that on a t-shirt. Lou is also somewhat correct that it's almost a ball spot from a rounding error point of view....but as always Jay is more correct. Print another T-shirt.

Really enjoying the game! But, got me to thinking... this thing could go on for awhile. Did they put a limit on how many days they will play?
And, what is the longest match y'all have seen? Weeks? Months? ...Years?

Joey A said this lol.....

A couple of days ago, I asked the two warriors if they would consider calling off the match after a certain period of time and they both yelled some fervent statements at the same time that essentially said, "NO!"

I'm cool with that!
But, that leads to another question... at what point does the streamer find that $25 for a two week (or however long) match becomes a money looser?
