Are you confused about the ball count? Danny is spotting him a ball.

9-8 is considered as half a ball spot. 8-7 is a full ball. Danny has to spot the first ball he makes and then they play first one to make eight after that.

Why is everyone explaining this to me? Someone posted a pic saying “explain this” so I was trying to help. I’m well aware of how spotting balls works.

But now I’m a little confused as to how 9/8 is half a ball but 8/7 is a full ball. I understand that 9/8 is a slightly lesser spot, but IMO there is nothing wrong with saying he’s “spotting Gabe a ball”. After all, he is literally spotting a ball every game.

In your opinion, is it wrong to say Danny is spotting him a ball?

It’s not wrong, but it’s not concise, either.
When making a game at one hole, nobody would ask for a ball...9-8 or 8-7.

Isn’t this funny? Jay has been around pool forever, says it’s a half ball spot. Lou has been around for a long time, says it’s closer to a full ball spot. I’ve been playing for over 20 years and have no problem calling it a one ball spot. Seems like a very muddy subject.

What would you call a spot of 10/8? I would have a hard time understanding anything other than “two balls”. <—-insert sex joke here

But past nomenclature...

8-7 is the standard for where 'a ball' difference comes from. Deviation has its consequences, worse for you one way, better for you the other.

Explain this shit....

Ball count is 0 for Gabe.....minus 1 for Danny
....there are five balls on the table.....:eek::confused::eek:

Yea I also was wondering about table time obviously it's not all that important n potentially private info but if anyone actually knows I'm curious. I wanna say Danny smith plays out of that room so he might not pay time but idk for sure. I'm assuming they made a deal w the house before starting if they paid time at all because at this point there at what like 80hours n my room charges about 5/6$ an hour so that's like almost 500$ in time for one person lol. I never played a set of sets that took longer Like 8/10 hours n most of my pool career I e gotten free time so I can't imagine a multiple hundred dollar time bill.

Anyone know what the score would be if they were playing even?
I really don't think there is any way you could say for sure.

Even if you looked at all 122 games to see if that one extra ball came into play in the score.

All the strategies and shot selections would be much different in all the close games from both players huge difference in the way games play out in the end.

What makes this match watchable for me is 'No Commentary' I don't care who you think is the best-They are all distracting and usually annoying-Give me the ambient sounds and im happy!!
