New Carpet...in the room w/ my Pool Table

I'm toying with the idea of replacing the carpet in playroom which is where my Pool Table is (see pic below).

OK, so how does this work?

I really would prefer to avoid the expense of having the table taken down only to be set up again.

Is there anyway to have new carpet installed without having to take down the table?

And if NOT, what are some of the other common, palatable options?

THANX! -Z-

If you are not planning on moving the thing around, install with with holes around the legs, and have them leave the plugs if you do happen to move the table.

Here is a really ugly picture of how you can cut it Untitled.jpg

If you use the carpet squares, it's a whole lot easier to put down new carpet without having to disassemble and move your table - which you'll have to do if you are installing wall-to-wall carpeting that has to be stretched. If using the carpet squares, you can simply jack up one end of the table when laying the squares down on that end, then repeat the same on the other end, then maybe some minor re-leveling may be necessary. We re-carpeted our entire poolroom and did that on all 10 of our tables, and never had to move them.

sent you a greenie for great advice

Commercial weave doesn't show the walk-around wear that regular carpet does, so I'd recommend
that type of carpet. My carpet is still good after 17 years of constant play. The pad is deteriorating a
bit but it still looks almost new.

I had the same problem at my old house. What I did was laid down wood flooring underneath the table and feet, and boxed it out with trim. Carpet was installed around it. Thought was if the carpet needs replaced I didn't have to touch the table again.

It worked but i moved out of the house 2 years ago. Now I have carpet under my table again in my new digs, and the folks who bought my house now have a dance floor.

LOL

Since your just toying with the idea, wait.
When you are ready to change your cloth then change your carpet.
To do your floors right you need to move the table. I liked the idea of not carpeting under the table and I have used carpet squares and think they are the best, except they can be pricey.

4 quality 2" wide ratchet straps, they have like 3500# capacity each attached to the ceiling, ratchet the table high enough to get the new carpeting in. Maybe??:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Personally I think it is worth the time and money to take down the table completely. Replace the carpet and then set the table back up again.

Moving a setup table around concerns me.

Picture of my "dance floor" under the table. Table was being redone by RKC.

If you go with the same pile and color, seam the new to the old under the table, assuming the carpet under the table has next to no wear.

Keep in mind the nap is directional.

If room is big enough where carpet will go down in two sections rent pool table dollys, some flooring contractors have them, move table to one section. When carpet is done where pool table goes move table back and do the other section

That's why I choose carpet tiles for my room. They are designed for commercial use and wasn't expensive. So my advise is to cut down carpet and replace it with tiles.

yes...the carpet can be installed around the table...and tell the installers to be real careful
My friend replaced a carpet and the installers worked(cut out) around the base. Looks like the carpet was installed under the table. As for moving someday don't make it a concern. The buyers might change it anyway or you can make a financial adjustment if it becomes big deal. It will cost over $600 to move and reset the table...simply use that money at that time as a fixer. NICE DIAMOND!!

I like this idea! My carpet is on a hard wood floor, though, not sure I'd want to try that. I made the mistake of buying cheap carpet this time (table has been moved three times now} and it looks like crap.
