Yep. When we played push-out the game had more of an offensive, shooting rhythm to it. With all the ducking, grabbing the jump cue, yada-yada-yada the game is actually slower now. I really wish "honest effort" was still played. You tried to hit the ball and if you fouled he could make you shoot again. This game was fun and fast. I know we're stuck with OF but it still sucks.

Couldn't possibly agree more strongly. In fact, I said nearly the same thing earlier in the thread. And, so... the ONE possible "saving grace" for one foul has been shot all to hell. I say, it's time for the torches and pitchforks! Let's take back our heritage!!! :grin-square:

Push out says to One foul ---> :bash:

But we're not stuck with it, Gar! As long as the human spirit exists, there is hope. Never Give Up! RESISTANCE! HELL NO WE WON'T GO!
 
I might add that Toby and I were playing even 9 ball for $50 a game.
He had me 8 games loser because he won every push out.

I was from the South and had not played a lot of it.

Finally I got frustrated and pushed out for an end rail bank.

He passed and I did it three times is a row and ran out.

Toby quit me 5 games winner and said he would play some more at 7/11.

I took a pass.

It was one of the few times I lost playing 9 ball.

He was a special player, Bill. And a kudo to you as well. I think he felt he had a pretty good reason to quit winner. ;)

Push-Out was more than a set of rules. It was part of a culture that has gone by the wayside.

In the 70s it was: Nine-Ball, find some action, and carry a bankroll.

Today it's: Eight-Ball, find a league, and carry a bank card.
