Our masters cities started today. I play masters but am only a 5/5. I text my captain last night asking if our other 2 players were going to make it today as they sometimes work weekends. He said yes they would be there. I told him good that I probably wont show and that I thought we needed to throw our best line up and try to win this thing. He said I was part of the team also and I said yea...the worst part lol. I told him I would show and keep score and cheer the team on if nothing else.

Now I admit I do have a lil ego and do believe anything can happen in a match...even a race to 7. I am also a realist and know I am way outclassed in this league by quite a few players.

Also being a realist ....even though i have won several upsets during the session chances are slim i can do it in cities where every one is a whole lot more serious than a regular night out. Also i did not want my captain to feel obligated in any way towards playing me . I appreciate my team mates letting me pls on their team and letting me learn whatever i can from them and my opponents . However i did not want to hold them back from having a chance to win this thing.

So that's my train of thought concerning this tournament. I am surprised that other lower level players in masters dont feel the way i do.

Take for instance the Las round we played today. After we won the first 2 matches we threw our second best player. The other team had their captain.....the worst player on their team and their best player available. The captain throws himself. I am thinking ...wth ? ? Why did he throw himself ? is it a case of every one is going to play...you know....win as a team ...lose as a team. Did he really think he was going to beat our second best player ? Did he not realize he just threw whatever chance of moving on in the tournament out the window ? We were both in the losers bracket.

Now i know upsets can happen because i have won plenty of them myself but in this instance i would go.with my best player giving our team their best shot at moving on and live to play another round. Well i am glad he made the choice he did because our team is still in it tomorrow.

Correct

You are absolutely 100% correct. You showed a lot class. During the season
is one thing but this for the cheese. You go with your best until it's over, whether
you are way ahead or way behind or neck and neck. A big ego , over rating
your play and "a lot of heart" is a dangerous thing in the pool world. I've
busted a lot of them through the years.

I hope you are not including the time you gave
me the 5,6,7,8 and the break, technically I still
had some money left when we quit

I might have played better and won but you
also refused to give me ball in hand

I did show a lot of heart in sticking with a bad game
even though I was down 17 games. The fact that it
was less than an hour didn't prove that I had no heart

I learned my lesson, never play with friends, especially with
out the nuts.It is almost impossible to win without
the nuts

did not prove that I had no heart as you suggested

So that's my train of thought concerning this tournament. I am surprised that other lower level players in masters dont feel the way i do.

nothing wrong with your actions, but I would suggest to stop worrying about how other people feel and think.......you will waste a lot of energy and time doing that........same for trying to figure out women.......

You took advantage of my weakness

As usual you turned the tables through skulduggery, by getting me to switch
to one pocket, knowing full well that thinking is something I try to avoid.
The few times I did, I got a headache and upset stomach. Back to league
thing, since it is supposed to be more of a fun thing, you see a lot of teams
playing everyone, which is fine. I believe at the start of the year that this
should be discussed. This is my top 5 and they will be playing entire playoffs
and any tournaments. If 2 or 3 or very close in skill then I will decide at the
time who plays. We are in this to win not be PC if this does not work for any
of you or you think I have misjudged someones skill even mine we will put
our heads together and come up with the lineup. But if you feel that you for
whatever reason are not playing as well speak up. That decision as hard as
it may be (every one wants to play) may be what keeps the team winning.
and that person that stepped aside is just as big a part of the win as anyone.
