What drills would you put in a book for yourself?

I decided after years of telling myself I want to make a binder for monitoring and executing practice drills that the time has come. I'm constantly reminded on league night how I need to be there more than once a week to shoot my 6 games with maybe a few practice games before and matches after for fun. Even still I am holding my own, but I have much to improve.
My poolhall has a $10 for up to 7hrs of pool special on the weekends and I intend to start taking advantage of this.

My dream is to have the binder broken into several categories ranging from basic easy stroke training to advance rare shots like kick safes, combos, multi-rail banks/kicks, getting position, etc.

To I'm coming here asking for you favorite and necessary drills. Please provide links and/or pictures and as best of details as you want to provide.

Thanks in advance.

Focus only on fundamentals. Set-up, stance, bridge steadiness, stillness and no body movement, movement from only the elbow down, very light cradle, proper eye movement, slow backswing, smooth transition and good 5 inch follow through, post shot routine tip must be pointing downward. If it is parallel to table or angled upward is an indication of elbow drop. Not good.

Try it... if you don't give up early and actually use it, it will help your game.

Practice having fun when shooting pool.

I tried doing the technical thing for awhile, but it made me feel like a jerk boss enforcing strict policies and procedures.

Nowadays the most important drill is to let go of the pressure of "trying to be a pro" and just enjoy shooting.

I decided pro pool skill would be nice, but realizing I am not capable of that level, made me approach pool differently.

I was similar. I’ve learned to just enjoy the spirit of the game more. I don’t fret over whether they didn’t call an obvious kick/bank/eightball or if they broke their stick down during the game anymore. Some rules are only meant to be enforced in flagrant scenarios. I’ve eased way back.

Throw 4balls out, hit them in order like 9ball, take ball in hand on first ball. Before starting pick the pockets for each ball. DO NOT CHANGE PLAN! If you fail, sketch it out and set it up again, when 4balls is easy add another, then set up drills on the position routes you missed in this drill, it never ends!

One of the best drills I know of...work this into your routine and find yourself pushing yourself harder and harder.

Seriously, if I got back to drills it would all be shooting off the rail and out of the pocket. I can tell I need work there.

I like the "L Drill". the Longstring Drill, The Circle Drill, Manning Cues' 2 & 3 rail Drills for starters. Some Draw , Stun & Follow Drills are helpful, too.

My Home Again Pool Shot does it for my players: https://www.thoughtco.com/pool-practice-routine-368932

I call this the never ending 3 ball drill. Helps to train you to think 3 balls ahead instead of just the next ball.

Throw 3 balls randomly on the table, look at the balls and figure out your pattern to get out, after pocketing the first ball toss another ball randomly on the table, (not disturbing the other balls) repeat and continue indefinately. If you miss, simply start over from where you are.

This drill is easier on a drop pocket table. I like it because I don't have to take the time to set up a bunch of balls in some complicated pattern.

IPAT 1, 2, 3.

Drills tailored to skill level of player. There are workbooks and videos. It is neat to watch Thorsten execute the drills.

Dr Daves BU Exam is good as well.

Ralph Eckert has since moved on from IPAT and is now fully involved with the check billiard app.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.checkbilliard

The app is very well put together and it tailers the drills to the skill level of the player.
I also like that it changes drills up on you so you aren't locked into one drill for an hour. It takes all the principles from IPAT and incorporates them in full lessons

To the OP, this app might be what you are looking for.

Thank you for this. Good to know.
