Thanks for the shout out guys! It was a good tournament. I played a stellar set on Mika to survive to round four and then totally zoned out against Dreidel to make the final 8. I hear he's an AZer too, so good shooting to him for getting past Thorpe and he was a gentleman to play. He really didn't get much of a chance that set.
Then I was the recipient of the same treatment, Hunter played a truly stunning set on me and beat me 9-1 without me being able to offer much resistance. He really kept me off the shot and played incredible with almost no errors, even in many difficult spots.
I then had to play Shaw immediately and that was a nail biter. I dry broke at 8-7 ahead and got one last kick, made contact but sold out, he ran the two racks out. It was tough, it really could've gone either way but someone has to lose and he definitely shot phenomenal.
A little tough as I didn't get many chances against Hunter and there were definitely better draws on the B side than Shaw, so overall I was very close to being in a really good spot. But that's what you sign up for when you get into the ring with top players, some days playing well isn't enough. In the end everyone has to lose except one player. I'm a little bummed I don't get to hit any more balls, but I'll have a great seat for the rest of the matches!
Thank you guys again for those that were cheering me on and to all of you that support pool. These types of threads make the events exciting to play in. AZB for life!
