trying to figure out where to hit the cue ball on one of Burts 9 shots in his 60 minute workout. (going to rent the video tonight, but he doesn't seem to shot where he's hitting the cue ball)

shot is object ball on the second diamond, three inches from the long rail, and the cue ball is in the middle of the table. he hits the object ball and goes two rails right into the middle of the table.

I have been trying just high follow, but just having not much luck. thanks

If the object ball is going past the side pocket on the way
to the hole. That sounds like just center high.

If it is not passing the side pocket I would guess a stun shot( center or a hair below).

No side spin should be necessary.

If it’s the video on YouTube that’s 8:20 long and the shot is the one at
1:30 that’s left or high left depending on how hard you have to
hit it. That would be 3 rail shape.

If the cue ball is going forward, side rail-end rail-side rail, then he is using high inside english.

Here's how Virtual Pool 4 models the shot with and without side spin (overhead and "aiming" views).

VP4 is surprisingly accurate in its modeling of things like this - and you can easily repeat the same shot over and over with precisely controlled aim, spin, speed, etc. to see instantly what changes have what effect. With the "tracking lines" option on you don't even have to shoot the shot to see the outcome.

The shot on the left is Bert's Shot #16 and the one on the right is Shot #4.

Damn...what do the lines say if you shoot that shot with high r) At warp speed?

About like this.

The CB goes to the right off the rail, then bends forward with the follow, then the right spin takes again on the second rail. Have to hit it hard to get this action. Notice the little hops off the rail from the force follow (in the "aim" pic). Note: It might look like the tip height is low for maximum follow - that's because the miscue limit is lower with right spin.
