I'll start it off with a few from John Schmidt whom we know is a very funny dude.

When Mark Wilson brought up Kaci's new neck tattoo that apparently says "Perfection" John chimed in comparing it with the one he has that says "I'm doing the best I can". :grin-square:

Schmitty also said "Shane is a thoroughbred - I'm the donkey they bring to kid's parties to pet". :rotflmao1:

Mark tried to be complimentary to John reminding him that he got one of these US Open titles and John responded inferring that it was long ago and a much less stellar field saying 'not too many guys showed up; some of their wagons broke down on the way'.

What gems have you guys heard?

best,
brian kc

Maybe more "fugazi" than gem but Sigel in the booth yesterday was comical/entertaining/painful all at the same time. Almost made Mataya at the Mercer a few month's back sound like a genius.

Some guys click in there and some don't. Schmidt and Jeremy are two who do! There is a reason why most of the great commentary teams in other sports have one former player in the booth. John McEnroe in tennis is without equal and Johnny Miller in golf really is fun to listen to with his cutting analysis.

In the final matches today, I'd love to hear Mark, Jeremy and John all together in there. Hey, it could be done! They have three mics. :groucho:

While not from this tournament, but John once said, “He hit that fatter than my ex-wife.” Schmidt is instant gold!

here's another one from John from a while back:

I forget who his co-commentator was who asked him, "John, do you have any pool groupies?" and he responded, 'Yes, I sure do but unfortunately they're all men over 50.' :grin-square:

Yep, he's a funny man.

Here s a couple from Mark
When Earl miscued , He had a delivery mechanism failure.
He got whity into a spot that just neutered Shaw.
Chang is like a Boa Constrictor keeping Shaw tied up.
When things are going bad, the balls conspire adversely against you!
when Kiamco was playing Oscar, he commented on Kiamcos stroke: he has worn any burrs off his stroke with many years of practice!

describing Chang in his win against filler: he plays every molecule of edge of the ball.

Mark has kept me chuckling this week, expect more today!!

John's most famous one

"I'd rather be eaten by a goat and shit off a cliff than play him again" (Danny Harriman)

He used that again yesterday, but changed it to "old men with chili stains on their shirts."
