USA vs. England, MC warmup

That leave where Corey hooked himself in the hill-hill match was strange.... Still trying to figure out what he was trying to do with the cueball on that shot.

That table was good to go.... and then....

Englsih have better composure from the matches I saw. Not a good look of the American team today.

Some intestinal fortitude from the boys in blue to pull out the win there.

5-3 Sky and Styler over Imran and Mark.

A couple mistakes around, but USA battled back from being down and snuck a few good safeties and a slick 9-ball combo to get the win.

6-4 England

5-3 Woodward over Boyes.

Woodward looked smooth. I didn’t get to see the Open but I imagine his run there included a lot of matches like this win.

Styer, Woodward, and SVB have looked the best today from USA. Keeping it alive.

6-5 England

What I find odd is that its not technically difficult shots being missed by Team USA, but 'pressure' shots (i.e. in the deciding rack).

That is just about acceptable in the Mosconi Cup...but not under a Railway Arch in South London with no fans and a couple of cameras!!!

While the position play to find himself hooked was just poor decision making, that jump shot Skylar just made was under quite a bit of pressure.

I say he handled it well.

Agreed, in the last hour or so Team USA have been by far the better team, playing some really nice shots under pressure.

Looks like it could go to 6-6 with USA having all the momentum!

Until now, I've never stopped to consider whether England is in worse shape than the US when it comes to up-and-coming pool players.
One of the first things I noticed was the difference in the physical appearance of the two teams. Team USA definitely would make a better calendar photo shoot.

I think that was the match of the night.

Shane wins 5-2 over Melling (or as my autocorrect likes it smelling)

Shane in game 4 had the best out of the evening, easily.

Reminiscent of the Russian Dream Cup going 6-6-

Here’s to Sky pulling it out over Mark Gray.

I wouldn't mind carrying some extra weight if I could have a stroke/game like Chris Melling! I love watching him play. His pace of play and patterns reminds me of Earl.

Is that a snooker cue Mark Gray is playing with?

I could be wrong (as I don't know the guy personally), but I believe he plays with a customised cue with a snooker like taper, very similar to what is now marketed (at a premium price of course) as a 'Chinese 8-Ball Cue'.

So a smaller than average tip for an American cue, but (probably not) a 'standard' American tip.

On an unrelated note, if Matchroom haven't already (and they probably have), they need to sign up Jeremy Jones as a full time commentator!

This is me making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Why is everyone except Shane giving Sky fist bumps after he wins a rack? It looks like Sky is taking to Shane, but Shane is just leaned back in his chair.

Sky puts the dagger in. What a comeback from team USA. Glad to see a new anchorman in Sky.

What a match!

Great comeback by Team USA.

I didn't get to watch the whole day, but what I saw of Team USA looks promising. Especially Skylar. My main worry is, yes they won today. But they won 7-6...against Europe's B team...without having to deal with the raucous European fans.

Next week will be an entirely different challenge, but I'm feeling very optimistic.

Don't think I'd read too much in to that. They look all smiles to me. I like this team.

Congrats Team USA great comeback

If Corey and Billy play a bit better and they all get on a roll...maybe...just maybe
