USA vs. England, MC warmup

Well the good ship known as the HMS Mosconi Cup Warm Up sailed out of England today for it's shake down sea trials. Sadly for all onboard she sank shortly after leaving port with all hands lost. It is a tragedy eerily like the unsinkable Titanic. Stay tuned for further updates and more stormy weather!
I have other things to do like leaf blowing!

Streams was horrible in last match. What was that about?

England 3-2

Now playing the Big Kahuna match
Appleton v SVB

SVB beats Appleton 5-4

Thorpe/Styer up now... This Styer kid can shoot...definitely looks like he belongs

Ben beat me to it

Pretty good showing from Team USA against a solid Team England. Thorpe looked a little off on some shots. Duel/SVB just don't look comfortable to me when they are paired together....

Match 1: Melling/Gray 5-4 Deuel/Van Boening
Match 2: Majid 0-5 Styer
Match 3: Boyes/Appleton 2-5 Woodward/Thorpe
Match 4: Melling 5-2 Thorpe
Match 5: Melling/Majid 5-4 Deuel/Woodward
Match 6: Appleton 3-5 Van Boening
Match 7: Gray/Boyes 5-4 Thorpe/Styer

Overall score; England 4 USA 3
Total Racks : England 25 USA 29

USA actually ahead by 4 racks due to Styer whitewash of Majid 5-0. This kid is good.
Appleton is really off his game after long layoff.
This will likely go down the wire.
They resume at 8pm local time about 10 minutes from now

Thank you, Spartan, Benward452, jkrswylde, for the replies! Much appreciated! :lovies:

Anyone know the lineup for the evening matches?

Session 1: Eng 4-3 USA

Session 2 matches:
Match 1: Gray - 5 vs. Deuel - 4
Match 2: Melling/Appleton - 5 vs. Van Boening/Thorpe - 3
Match 3: Gray/Majid - 3 vs. Styer/Woodward - 5
Match 4: Woodward vs. Boyes

Corey lost against Mark Gray 5-4.

Corey had an open table, in the hill-hill game, after Mark tried and missed a difficult 1-2 combo.

Corey ended up hooking himself on what looked like a routine run out. Attempted a difficult jump shot and missed.

Mark cleaned up.

5-3 England

England, not Europe.

Habit I guess. ;). I am sure there wasn’t much confusion, but I edited the above post to reflect it.

Sounds like Thorpe and Deuel need to step it up big-time.
Corey and Shane play so differently I am surprised they were paired.
Wish I could watch...

I am glad Matchroom is doing great things for the game and they have what seems to be great leadership, but Emily Frazer, COO of Matchroom, has been a bit brash over the airwaves to her staff and at least one fan. Just a bit bizarre to me when you’re the leading voice of the biggest company in pool promotion.

Lets hope, that team USA is still feeling the jetlag, because although the commentators try hard to promote next week`s MC as a big fight, I can`t see how team USA will make this cup any closer than the past few years if they perform the same way as they do tonight.
England is up 6:3 and only Melling is really playing on an MC standard.

What I find odd is that its not technically difficult shots being missed by Team USA, but 'pressure' shots (i.e. in the deciding rack).

That is just about acceptable in the Mosconi Cup...but not under a Railway Arch in South London with no fans and a couple of cameras!!!
