I've watched a couple of Makkonen's matches, and he's been very impressive. Very rarely makes an unforced error. At the start of his match against Shane I thought he looked confident and ready to win.
Then Shane ran the first two racks, but of course that didn't bother Makkonen. When he got to the table he still took advantage of his opportunities, and just when it looked like this was going to be a close match all the way to the end, Shane came with some incredible kick safeties. It seemed to deflate Makkonen a little bit, and throw him just a tad off his game.
Shane ended up winning 9-3. I may not be the first person to recognize this, but what that guy can do on a pool table is unbelievable.
