How do new Meucci cues play?

How do the modern Meucci cues play?

Are the ferrules better (meaning, they don't start cracking after a few weeks play)?

I've owned several Meucci cues way-back-when, and loved the way they played. Unfortunately they weren't very durable, so I got away from the brand many years ago.

I was just hoping to hear some feedback from current Meucci players.

Can't speak for durability but the BMC Pro cues play very well. The Pro shaft is LD and feels like a solid. Keep it basic if you get one. Keep inlays to bare minimum. That's been an issue with them over the years. My $.02

I have 3. 2 are a year or so old,1 was made in 73. I bought it in 78. Meucci ferrules were defective in the beginning, by and large but have long since been corrected. Mine are all very simple ( the new ones are both custom, I designed both ) with no inlay of any kind. I agree with Garczar, less is more with Meucci. All 3 of mine are solid as a rock and hit perfectly. The 73 is the original shaft and is straight as an arrow. I would recommend Meucci to anyone.
 
Some folks on here will tell you the ferrules are the only thing that will stay intact on new Moochies! lol

For the last year the quality has been good.

I like the way they play if made of wood and not the power piston butts.


Always remember, there is no such thing as an expert on Meucci cues.

I have the BMC Glass Black Rose and have no issues with it. Have 2 ultimate weapon shafts for it and they play great.

Well with all the different style and model numbers, no one can keep up with all of them.

You'd have to be old and still have a good memory.


And this crap about the brass pin and pill bumper, I can put a brass pin into any Meucci and add a pill bumper. So far, I haven't met anyone that knows the difference between a OL-1, O-1, and 95-17.

And the name Dragon Slayer and the Propeller cues were names made up by people that didn't know the correct names. The correct names are Giant Killer and Airplane cues.


You have enough people say something and then everyone believes it. Was reading comments on the Billiard Forums the other day and I can't believe the wrong information being spread. But hey, it's all good. Dude checked with his own private Meucci expert. There are Meucci fans out there that believe anything.


Love my Meucci cues. I am not an expert either. Just a fan boy. :woot:

If you're talking about the ones with the big pin, which are the only ones I've seen and hit with, they seem to play pretty well. Made me want one, which hasn't happened in a good many years now. The last one I had came with a black dot shaft that I wanted to compare to the Predator shaft on the Joss sneaky pete I had at the time.
 
I got two relatively recent ones - a Candy Apple Red with a Black Dot Shaft, about 6 years old. Plays excellent, the Black Dot Shaft is slightly warped. A roll of about 1mm which can be corrected if hung from the wall. Straightens out close to perfect that way. The butt has inlays and has absolutely no defects although it saw some heavy use.

Around 15 months ago I got a 30" customized Ultra Piston 4 with 1 The Pro 30" and a 30" Ultimate Weapon shaft. Cue is used about 20 hours/week and no defects. For the first couple of months I preferred the "Pro" shaft but now I like the Ultimate Weapon better. The UW draws even better but you need to take a little more care where you aim on the cue ball. Since it is considerably thinner. Both newer shafts are absolutely straight.

I like Meuccis. If you don't like softer hits, go somewhere else. I can't stand the hit of Predators and the like. It is a matter of preference and Meuccis are different from other brands. The UW shaft has close to zip deflection - I haven't measured it scientifically but I could not see a difference in deflection vs. a Revo I tried.
 
This is just my opinion but I would venture to say that Bob Meucci has made more money$ than any other cuemaker in history, (production or custom). You got to love the USA as where else can you make a horribly inferior product but still have major success!

Last I checked Sky gets paid to play with one. The question is would he play with it if he wasn't getting paid? From what I have heard the answer is no.

Lol, I've had a Muecci for about 10 years and drive an 09' Wrangler Rubicon. Got a 175,000 on the Wrangler and it runs like a top and the Muecci is still perfect, even after keeping it in my trunk 24/7/365 for the first 4 years of its life w me.

Another Einsteinian reply. Last I heard Filler and others get paid to play the Revo but they laid them down in a couple of recent tournaments. Does that prove that Revos are even worse than the horribly inferior product?

Oh yeah, all the players getting sponsored from companies other than Meucci really love their cues and would never play another one given the choice :scratchhead:
