John Schmidt at BullShooters

I’m curious if at that high of a number he even knows where he’s at. He would obviously know he’s high but if he can just blank out whenever his bub is racking and not count the racks it might be a haze of pool.

He’s marking racks. He knows the target rack number. He’ll know when he hits 490.

Can you imagine? That's 35 racks! I don't care what he's doing. If he can run 35+ racks he's got my mad respect. In fact he already does for his runs over 400! How many of those does he have now?

Four depending on whether you count the 400 exactly and the 434 or not.

I seriously doubt anyone else ever made four runs of 400 or more. He's already in a class by himself.
I think that's true for living players but if you look around at the threads that mention Cranfield it seems that he may have:
had an exhibition run of 420 on a 5x10 table;
had 2 practice runs over 700 including his lifetime best of 768;
run over 400 on two consecutive nights.

I think he both loved to play just for the joy of playing and played pretty well. Nobody was sponsoring his practice runs, it was just how he spent many of his evenings.

If a tree fell in a forest and no one heard it, did it make a sound? ;)

I'm all for John snapping off a 527+. But I gotta say, can he dress the part? I'd be good with a pair of slacks and a golf polo. He's wearing a shirt akin to a Bad News Bears' Chico's Bail Bonds jersey. When he breaks it, it would be nice if he were professionally representing the sport as there is the potential it could gain national exposure and as a pool fan I'd prefer he were dressed in something other than shorts and a t shirt.

I hate comments like this. Some people will never be satisfied. Nothing is ever enough. Apparently the guy is not allowed to be comfortable while he voluntarily spends months on end trying to break a record with no cash reward? Is it not enough that he streams all of his progress for free? Good lord :confused:

I agree. If someone was paying a him a fee, or sponsoring the stream, maybe you could impose a dress code. But if the guy is taking this on on his own dime, he can wear whatever he wants.

To be fair, Rexus is entitled to his opinion, And there is nothing wrong with wanting the world record holder to be gussied up a bit for the photo ops...

Folks are sponsoring and helping JS along the way here, folks. Numerous people and businesses. Just setting things straight on the thread-record part

Someone needs to get Larry Moy of NYC down and do a sit down with him to talk about Cranfield. The more and more I read about him, the more I'm interested in him as a player. Seems like he was in the same class as someone like Dallas West, who wanted to show to the general public that pool was not only about gambling and dingy halls.

There's nothing wrong with being comfortable but there's nothing wrong with looking half decent either. And that coat, tie, trousers, and dress shoes didn't slow Willie up much.

Current attire is ok. So long as he does not don those wrestler underwear and do a Hulk Hogan if he breaks the record

Lou,

Sir, no disrespect intended but, you seem to think men of today are equal to men of yesteryear.

Me included Sir!, My Father.... and his generation and "most" generations before them .....well, we men today can't fill their shoes or hold their cues.

Why do I have the feeling that even if he ran 3000 there would be a group of people saying he forgot to say mother may I ,or, please sir , more soup.
I think a good enema, would help a lot of people on here more than they can imagine.
