how are ya'll doing in league ?

Played my 8-ball match last night, broke 4 times. First three times, the cueball jumped off the table. I don't hit particularly hard, but whatever happened, it got away from me.

Fourth time (on the hill) I took a smidge off, and volia! 8-ball into side pocket, for the win...heh. :p

We just finished our Troy Vending 4-player spring session last night. We played the final position round, and won 3 out of 5 rounds, I think. Makes us 5th, I believe.

I shot a 36 out of 40 (really should've won all four games for a perfect 40), which makes me MVP for the session. Not bad, considering I got the flu and then pneumonia back-to-back at the beginning. Actually, in spite of getting sick, this was one of my better sessions in a while.

Didn't play APA 9B this week because a teammate/friend just got out of the hospital (after 2 months?) and needs 2 matches to qualify for MVP and we have 2 matches left. He's up there and should be in first after that. If not, I will nominate him for MVP.

Didn't play APA 8B this (only a sub), and won't play next week. If I play I will probably win the MVP and that means one of the 2 or 3 other new players won't have a chance so I'm being nice and letting one of them get chosen for MVP.

BCA 8B is tonight. It's the last night and the top four spots are all 1 point away from each other - 728, 729, 730, and 731. I'm in second. Two of the other three are on one team that is in second place, the other guy is on the first place team - those two teams are playing each other tonight so hopefully nobody gets a 40! All I need to do is play my game and hopefully the first place guy loses 1 game. Our opponents tonight include a 560'sh player, hoping I break against him to prevent a B&R scenario against me.

Took 2nd in BCA 8B. Had one guy to worry about and I had the break. Made a ball and only had shape on stripes which had a couple of breakouts needed. Got the first breakout and had a super thin cut along the the long rail to come cross table to break out the other cluster. Over cut it which meant the CB when down table a bit and hit the wrong side of the cluster and straight in the drink. Opponent (560'sh Fargo) took BIH and ran out as expected. I ended up winning my other three games and ended with a 34. The first place guy ended up in 4th with a 28 and the 3rd place guy had a 40 to take 1st and beat me by 5. Overall it was great season and I had fun, can't wait for BCA 9B.

My team should be in 6th and if so, we'll be in the playoffs.

It's funny, because I so rarely get the cueball off the table on a break, 8 or 9. Three breaks in a row was crazy. I don't really hit them hard, using the second row break from the side you don't need to. Firm, yes, hard, nah. Oh well. Ended up the right way, at least.

I used to average at least one 8 On The Break per session, I have a had a dry spell, this is my first in a while.

I am finally settling in at my new skill level. I was getting my brains kicked in for about 3 months and i finally relaxed and have been playing decent pool (for me) lately. I feel like I have been helping the team lately at least.

im finally gonna give it a go, season just ended here they tell me
a few weeks and another will start

the guy that runs the team said hes like a 3 and that when we played, he thought i played like a 5 or 6
small bars, traveling team

just doing it to get out of the house and meet people,

Is it BCA, APA, VNEA, in-house?

Lol no idea tbh
Probably apa i see the Jeannette lee pictures all over the room

Yep, probably APA, you'll like it as long as you don't have/get the APA sucks attitude a lot of people have. The fact is, it's a fun league and is a great way to meet people. Where I live a lot of people play in both APA and BCA so the competition isn't much different. The biggest difference is in APA 9B the handicap really does work well. I'm an 8 and my losses generally come from 5's and 6's. 8B the handicap doesn't help too much because a 4 or 5 really has no chance of winning a game against a 7 unless I fook up or they get lucky. And for some reason I seem to lose the lag against the lower level players so I never get a rackless night even though I go 5 and out...

Good luck

Many times when the cueball jumps the table it means the head ball was not tight.

Never heard that one. To jump off the table either the balls have to be different sizes or the CB hit the pack while already air born.

I've probably seen thousands, literally, of people jump a ball off the table when breaking from the second ball back. They put the CB too close to the rail and the result is they have to raise the back of their cue to lower the tip so it hits the CB full, thus slamming the CB in the slate forcing it to "jump" and when it hits that second ball back it's already air born and it just keeps going.

Hey maniac....thought you might be interested in the outcome of the 21 year old winning 3-0 in 6 innings vs a 7 last week. he was raised to a 6 this week. I immediately thought ..aww crap. He was happy and struttin around but I was sure not happy for 2 reasons. Our team is spread hurting to meet handicap and I don't care what the scoresheet says....this boy aint no 6. I sure wish I had watched his match last week....sure the boy shoots straight but in the back of my mind i cant help but think he had a lil help from that 7.

So what did I do about it last night ? Throwed him against the opposing captain who is a 6. That captain took this boy to school and put a 5-0 smack down on him. I made sure to watch this match and my boy shot good but it was obvious he was no match for a real 6.

I played another 5 in 8 ball and won 4-1. Never should have lost that 1 rack. I fouled on my last ball by touching the cue ball on my warm up stroke. Never moved the cue ball but i gave my opponent the cue ball and he asked what happened and I told him.

Later I play 9 ball against the opposing captain who is a 7. 46-55 race with me going to 46. I won 46-49. Should not have been that close but twice he ran the table of my dry breaks giving him 20 points. Some nights my break works good and other nights it kills me. Thankfully I shot good enough to overcome those breaks last night

I guess I like to punish myself...gonna play in a singles qualifier today. My old body does not seem to hold up very well in tournaments anymore but I want to try to make it to Vegas in singles once in my life. Already been once in team and that's enough for me.

I took the night off last night but I text my co captain this evening asking how we did.

It seems my suspicions may be correct about my 21 year old players 8 ball game last week where he beat a 7 by 3-0 in 6 innings. As a result he was raised to a 6 where I felt he did not belong.

He lost thus past Friday night 5-0 vs a 6. He lost 5-1 vs a 7 last night. The rack he won was due to the 7 making the 8 on the break and scratching.

So after beating a 7 by 3-0 in 6 innings he has not even got a whiff at the 8 ball in the last 10 racks vs a 6 and a 7. I really believe it was a game of his life ....or a lil help from his opponent. Darn sure wish I had watched that match last week to get a better idea of what actually transpired.

I guess time will tell.

I showed up and the captain of the oppposing team informed me I was bumped up to an SL9 (APA 9B). Whoot whoot, it only goes downhill from here

I didn’t play this week or last week, we’re in the playoffs either way so I’m letting the rest of the team get some reps in.
