No offense to predator,mezz,etc...cues i consider mass produced or production cues,but i think schon is hands down the most consistent ,best playing production cues ever made...i have been around the gambling scene for 35 years in the southeast and i saw firsthand,johnny archer,shannon daulton,tony watson,"fountain inn red" don willis,etc...etc... All absolutely play the best they ever played(before they took sponsorship money) playing with schon cues..period. I don,t even play with stainless joint cues(i like flat faced wood to wood joints) but i saw these guys run more racks with schon cues than all other cues combined.

Hmmm. Makes me wonder how these guys would have performed if they had never known of Schon cues? Would they have remained just a banger if they had chosen McDermott, Schmelke, Meucci, or any other brand? Or would they have still made it to the level they did with Schon?
Likely they would. Schons seem to be a bit too overrated for me. Then again, I haven't tried a sub $1000 cue from them. All I know is that I prefer many of my other cheaper cues over the Schons--and that's not even using their brand of shaft.
Of course they all would have still became champions(johnny,shannon,and tony) my point is i,ve seen them all play with various cues after they made it to the top(johnny his own cues) shannon...joss west nat greens south east cues,gibert,etc.... I just pointed out that they played their BEST pool of their lives with schons in their hands...but whats a broke pool player supposed to do...take the sponsorship money and play with a ..Cuetech(earl and shane) or play with a schon and only get prize money??? The same decisions are made on the pga tour regularly...they can play (great) with any club brand,but they play with whatever sponsor is paying the most.
What happened to John when he left schon?
he was always a great guy,i enjoyed talking to him even when Evan was in charge of Schon
During the time Bob Runde,and Evan Clarke were making cues, almost every great player did play Schon,and they played their very best as has been said.
When Terry Romine passed away his wife began to run the company,previously she was the bean counter and when she tried to take over everything else she offended her long standing customers with arrogant high handed methods.
She made it uncomfortable for John her son in law until she ran him off,I hope he is still married,I know what a good family man and father he was. Mother in laws have ruined more than businesses before
Tery Jr is a wonderful person and businessman by all accounts, lets hope that he is allowed to
save what has been the greatest company in the history of pool.

They would have been champions with house cues. Cue is way over-rated. Heck, Efren roasted everyone with a $12 pos cue.

Seriously? I saw Shannon come within an eyelash of beating your hero Efren using his Gilbert. Gimme a break. Schon makes good cues but they're not magic wands.

thinking before posting is also advised. Especially when you just deemed Schon the greatest pool company...and you played your best pool with one? Mmmmmkkay.
Mezz has to spot Schon the 4 out, and the break, when it comes to quality, and playability. Schon will be the next cue company to close shop. Guaranteed.
