...rented space somewhere solely for a 9' pool table?

We actually have space. Our living room is huge and Gail has often offered to turn it into my pool room but I do not have the heart. Girls like their living rooms.

So I'm just wondering, as this virus tings spins out, has anyone ever rented a space somewhere just to house and play on their pool table?

Go for it, Lou. :)

Call it "Lou's Place".

I've often wondered the same thing.

If I were in the mainland, I would consider doing that myself.

You don't need Gail around when you are playing pool anyway. She might holler out "dinner's ready" and shark you when you are about to break Mosconi's record.

Leave the women at home and go play pool at "Lou's Place".

Not currently but i used to know a guy that rented a place in a small industrial/office park. It was basically his man cave. Pool table, cards, some video games, tv. Some of his buds just chipped in each month. Lotta fun. He finally moved and haven't seen him in a while.

Lou... I have always made sure that I have room in my garage for a table.

3 houses so far …… all good!

Really?

Who do you think does the shopping and cooking in my house? Gail, for all her talents, cannot boil water -- she only has two dishes she can make, both outstanding: fried won tons and potato salad. That's it.

In fact, to this day, I ocassionaly comment on a chicken she served me while we were dating -- it was dry -- like eating sawdust.

I've actually become a pretty cook.

Yes, that's what I was thinking.

Just looking for some tips from folks that had done it.

It hasn't worked out that way for us.

Our house is great and there is no moving at this stage of the game. So I would need to look for some space to rent for a man cave.

I have looked but its been a long time. A lot of the businesses that have store
fronts also have a back side of the place that has storage room. A quick way to find
those is the Chamber of Commerce. They're always looking to help out a local
business and if they recognize you as someone who is genuine well you can't receive if you don't ask.

Not exactly what you're after but I have seen five or six groups of people rent a space that can accommodate three tables or so and each member contributes to the rent. The ones I've seen have been in industrial areas so low rent and relatively low ambiance unless the members get ambitious about decorating.

The micro-club has the advantage of making opponents available. Which is OK as long as they're not disease-ridden.

One of our customers who loves snooker, got a good deal on a used 12 foot snooker table, and rented a storage unit to set up his table for play. He got the permission of the storage unit manager to install special lighting for the table and to be able to come and go as he pleases anytime of the day or night. He has a couple other members of his snooker club that split the storage unit unit rental fee with him. Seems to be working out good for him, since he didn’t have room for a table at his own dwelling.

I had a 9' GC in a shared space while I was having my house built in 2007, I paid $300 a month.

I sold the house last July, kept the GC. I worked a deal to set it up in a space for $450 a month until December.

You might have to set it up in a less than desirable area, but at least you wont have to sit in the house for 8 months.

Some high-rise senior living centers that house thousands of residents have acres of garages. Many are vacant and can be rented very reasonably if you know who to contact.

Not a bad idea, but I would worry about too many people having access to the table.
