Looking for pool table mechanic

I need a pool table refelting service and bumper and level it. I have all the materials just want a pro to put it all on. I'm located in kirkman Iowa if someone knows someone that is closed then 70mi from there please let me know. Thanks in advance. As the only one I have found it going to cost as much for him to come out as for the job

One of the smartest mechanics in the business is in Davenport - pay for the travel time, it's worth it.

There is a lot of value in getting it done right, the first time.

It is a job that should basically last a lifetime, if you use in normally in a home environment.

270mi away so even if he is willing to drive that far it's going to pretty much break my bank
I hear ya. Quality ain't cheap, but cheap can be real expensive in the long run.

I imagine youd be spitting mad if you paid somebody else 60% of what the master wants for the job and then had to deal with shoddy work until you could get the pro out there to fix what was done wrong...if it can be fixed. Plus, you'll prob need to rebuy materials too...

Ya that's is true. That's why I'm looking for nobody with under 10 years in the business. I'll give him a call tomorrow what is the name of his business

I knew a Vanessa I met from her name and number on a phone booth on the Baltimore waterfront. Is that the one? Like forty years ago?

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that ping.
As a fellow Iowan, I feel your pain, not many mechanics other than fly by nights in my neck of the woods. I bought a machinist level and tools and learned to do all the work myself. It's not that hard if you're somewhat handy. My issue was I didn't really trust anyone else to work on my baby and it's always nice to have an excuse to purchase tools. Between the leveling videos on youtube and the simonis cloth dvds it wasn't too bad. I have no idea about bumpers, but I'm sure there are videos.

Yeah I been trying of doing it all myself but don't have a machinist level just the normal carpenter ones of all sizes. That and I do love my table but don't have the $550 to have someone to do it for me right now. And it's just a AMF playmaster so not sure if it's worth paying someone that much as I don't know what the table is worth. As for rails I might drive in and have a pro do them just cause they have to be cut at the perfect angle

But whatever I end up doing I'll let everyone know and take pictures

One option if you don't want such a specialist tool would be to buy a used starette one on ebay, then resell it back on ebay. They have a consistent resale value, so worst case you might lose $20 or 30 once you sell it back. That's what I was going to do, but I ended up keeping the level in case I ever had to re-level in the future.

How much are they new. I'll be keeping it as well. But was hoping to find one in the $40 range. Maybe I'll look for a used one I mean there hard to bend
