How is the local pool scene in Houston TX, and are the pool halls there open yet?

I was aware of all this and did not feel bad for him in the least. I had heard he got killed in jail, that's why I was asking about him. He must have done close to thirty years (or more).
About 20yrs. He was sentenced to 40yrs. Surprised Texas let him out that early.

'99 was when he got sentenced. I think he got paroled around 2013-'15ish.

Larry Rogers? I forget his last name. I first met him in 1973 in my poolroom in Bakersfield. We played 9-Ball and he was one of the best players I had ever run into. He continued to challenge the best players in the country for a long time after that. I would say he was definitely the best black 9-Ball player in the country, no one else really close. I thought he was put in jail for his part in the crime spree in the late 80's or very early 90's. I guess that's when he got arrested and jailed to await trial. He may not have been in prison yet but he was still locked up until after his trail was over. That's when he was sent to prison. At one time it was rumored that he got killed in there. He must have got out more recently since no one had said anything about his release until now.

You guys are very quick to condemn someone you don't know over something you haven't witnessed. He paid about half his life in lockup. That I do know.

Read the details of his case. Imagine that was your sweet grandmother or mother that was one of his victims. I live in Austin and that case was big enough at the time it was known about state wide.

Gabby = Good pool player.
Inmate # $%#@&* = piece of shit that was let out to soon.

Do you have a link to the details of his case?

Mas:

Gabby is not the Jeweler..he is Mouise Pouncey

I am all about forgiveness, second chances etc. hell I have been given a few but I stand by my words.

Sorry op...your thread got hijacked here but typically that happens as discussions flow in many ways..sometimes that is the best part of AZB.

The judge and jury did the condemning, we're just singing along with choir.

I've said all I need to say on the subject already.
That's fine with me. I was hoping you found a link to actual court documents, and not just newspaper articles. I agree that he had to do time for what he did, but isn't there something to be said for repentance and forgiveness?

Those things are probably available but I do not have access to them.

"but isn't there something to be said for repentance and forgiveness?"

Yes. By law he was convicted, served his time until he was paroled and is free. That does not make him an innocent man however. If you want to forgive him, shoot pool with him, what ever that is your choice. I will take a pass on that.

Saturday Morning Sermon. There are some crimes that cannot be atoned for by serving time in prison alone. Some crimes are so heinous they demand that the perpetrator be shunned or ostrasized by society. Pedophiles are a prime example. Y'all can determine individually what is appropriate in this case. In judging individuals, I suggest we consider behavior during and after prison. Felons who are deserving of forgiveness earn their reward through good deeds -- teaching illiterate inmates, volunteering at food banks/soup kitchens, helping the disabled -- y'all know the drill. I strongly believe in rehabilitation, and, personally, I will embrace anyone who demonstrates sorrow and regret -- true repentence -- through both words and deeds. Each and every one of us is flawed to some degree. It is a difficult undertaking to examine one's soul, acknowledge sins and shortcomings, and attempt to right wrongs. Persons engaged in such a struggle are deserving of our fellowship and our support. "Truly I tell you, whatsoever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40

F^&k forgiveness. At least in this case. These two shitbags didn't just rob and assault one woman. They did it multiple times with ZERO regard for the victims. Chopping off a finger to get a ring???? WTF??? These asswipes are animals in my book. Let 'em both rot in some dark pit.

Have no clue about any Calif crimes. What Gabby went to the joint for happened between '93 and '98 in the Houston area. Its all in the articles that have been posted here. Done on this and my apologies for 'jacking the OP's thread. BTW, pool is alive in well in H-town if one believes all the action/tournaments stuff i keep hearing.
