It is hard to draw square balls. Although there is less skid

Round is their natural shape in the wild. Anyone who has ever hunted pool balls, knows that.

If I was the pool hall owner, I would make them less round on an hourly table so the games take longer.
A few times the big tables were tall taken up and to wait out the time we would play on the coin op 7 footers, to keep the cost down a bit we would play one handed one pocket LOL

There is probably a distinction we can make between a ball and a sphere. A snowball can be pretty misshapen but still be called a "ball".
