WORLD POOL CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 June2021) Champion $50K

This Karl Boyes vs Francisco Sanchez Ruiz should be on TV table
The commentators have no idea about Sossei and Capito
:ROFLMAO:

Capito is of Filipino descent but has born and raised and lives in Hong Kong. I thought Stu would recall him coming back from being down 7-1 against Kaci in this tournament (Qatar-2018) to win and reach final 16 ;-). He was 17 then. He is still 19 for a couple weeks.

Last time in Qatar (2019) he got through brutal qualifying round (as did Raga and Banares and a few other top players) but then failed to make elimination stage.

At Kremlin Cup two years ago he went two and out, but that's losing 8-7 to SVB and 8-5 to Kaci. That's easy enough to happen, isn't much information, and he was 18.

We don't have any play for him after Dec 2019, when he was 18.5 and had been playing at a pretty high level for a while.

Must be one of best performances of years i seen any game that came today from Ruiz... Destroying Boyes 11-3 and making all hard tables fast and loose like nothing
Boyes about 790 Fargo but after some years absence, his actual would be lower. He can overcome sub 750 opponents in his earlier rounds but going up against 800 player like Ruiz is different ballgame.

Sanchez-Ruiz gets the winner of Filler vs Oi in the round of 16. That will be a good match.
Winner of that will likely play SVB.

Not sure what match the commentators are watching here. Capito getting enough rolls to open a twenty four hour bakery. Made a terrible shot on the eight ball in rack five after a stellar Sossei safety and somehow fluked a snooker. In rack thirteen, he missed twice into two safeties, and in neither case did he play a two way shot. The match is 7-7, but Sossei, by every right, deserves to be in control. Instead, it looks like a coin toss.

Biased commentating is, in general, an issue in Matchroom events.

I like the focus and more exposure invites/chances given to players who pass through World Juniors-Capito, Sanjin, Zielenski ,Jonas Souto (now playing vs Kaplan on Youtube
). cos compared to decades ago, those who pass through World Junior championship in past couple of decades have gone on to become top players like Gorst, Wu, Kos, Francesco Ruiz, Aloysius Yapp, Chang JL to name a few :D

More nonsense from the commentators. Capito misplays a jump shot in rack 15, double kissing the one, and scratches. They are calling this a bad roll, but I'm calling it a bad shot, which is what it was. Why shouldn't a poor shot get a bad result? Just a dumb old race to four now, It's 8-7 Sossei but he scratches on the break, not a bad roll, just a mistake. Capito has a runout that he should complete to tie it at eight.

Capito jaws the three, and, to the credit of the commentators' credit, they didn't call it unlucky. Sossei leads 9-7 in a match that appeared headed for 8-8. The result is still very much in doubt.

Sossei runs out for the 11-7 win and is on to the last 16. This veteran player, a longtime star of the Joss Tour, ran two beautiful racks to close it out. Those of us living in the Northeast United States who often watch him would have been concerned that the shot clock might have been an issue for Jeremy, who is known as a slow player, but he seemed to cope.

America down to Shane, Skyler and Jeremy, as Thorpe falls.

Is it too much to ask for the scores to actually be updated in real time? Jayson Shaw said that Shane was up 4-1 against Libutis about 5-10 minutes ago. The brackets still have no score for me.

Interesting info offered by Shaw in his commentary of Filler vs Oi. He noted, as we've all noticed, that the stream table is playing loose, but he also shared that the outer tables are playing tighter than the stream table.

Props to Matcroom for the on-screen ticker which gives match results. That's a very nice, fan-friendly, touch.
